I think they're guilty of murder, but I'm not a fan of the hate crime charge in any situation. It doesn't get evenly or fairly applied, and any crime of this level carries elements of hate. To illustrate my point, were the murderers of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom charged with hate crimes? What was done to those two was pure evil, and should have qualified as a hate crime if anything does. But they were white, and straight. What was done to Ahmaud Arbery was horrible, and wrong. Those men deserve to be punished. Just not a fan of the whole "hate crime" thing.
I think criminal charges should be results based. Is killing someone because they are gay, black or whatever any worse than killing someone because you wanted to watch a person die? I don't see a difference and think the hate crime charges should be abolished.
Because for some reason the media and BLM protestors are not as active on this story compared with the Rittenhouse trial. So why aren’t we discussing this trial at all? It is after all going on now too. Thus far I’d call the defendant’s testimony rather uncompelling
It's not the killings that's the issue, it's the lesser "crimes" like free speech. You burn an American flag it's free speech. You burn a sodomy flag, it's a hate crime. This is the point of hate crimes.
I think it’s also that there’s no tribal conflict over this one. Is there anybody left seriously defending these guys in a public forum?Because for some reason the media and BLM protestors are not as active on this story compared with the Rittenhouse trial.
I think it may be because this one is almost assuredly to end in conviction.
Not that it matters but I was under the impression it was a house under renovation, not an empty structure.Unless some compelling evidence emerging and admittedly I'm not watching this trial closely, then these guys look guilty of killing Arbery. It doesn't matter that Arbery went in a partially built house. What was he going to do, put a pallet of bricks on his back? They pretty much chased the guy down with a gun then dared him to surrender to them. All he knows is they were going to kill him.
I hope guilty verdicts are coming.

My business is located in Brunswick and it's been surprisingly quiet here. I did see a couple of tour busses parked close to the courthouse the other day. Hopefully they won't be shipping in any outside protestors. I don't mind local people peacefully protesting but if they start shipping in thugs to burn and destroy things here in SE GA, things aren't going to end very well, I can promise that.
I don't really have a strong opinion one way or the other as I haven't really kept up with it that much. It definitely does not seem like Arbery was up to any good. With that being said, there was absolutely no reason for him to be shot the way he was. I hope and pray the proper amount of justice will be served. I'm glad I'm not part of the jury.
Felony MurderLet's all take a lesson from this. It's not about being partisan. It's about fairness and consistency.
It's possible these guys get found neglient if they had no intent to kill when they set out on this chase. Those in legal - is 2nd degree as high as we're looking at? I haven't looked it up lately.
