the new definition of middle class

BTW, Progressives/materialists have controlled most colleges since the late 1800's. They have perpetuated themselves by indoctrinating students with "progressive" ideals. Since the 60's, the left has engaged in an effective campaign of viewpoint discrimination resulting in 90% of college professors being "liberal". Many of them are openly hostile to rival points of view.

Public school K-12 teaching is one of the few professions where the graduate is sufficiently insulated from the real world to allow them to continue believing the left wing non-sense their professors spouted.

Bob Jones University is the best University.

I'm married to a teacher, and more or less you are correct, though using the wide paint brush on this one isn't the right call.

The NEA is doing a hell of a job of turning the folks they "represent" into the most hated people going across the nation with their acceptance of crap performance.

Oddly, Colin Cowherd made a mention on his show, on how membership in a union gave one the option to strive for mediocrity and be successful financially in the long term, thats basically what the teachers' union does.

On the other hand, both of my sisters work at Charter Schools, non-union jobs, with higher salary and longer school hours (on top of what home time is needed), and are given performance based reviews. However, there is also a selection process to said schools, whereas my wife, in NEA land, has to deal with whatever **** comes through the door.

Just rambling at this point, but teachers are in a no win situation as far as public judgement goes, especially when they are forced into the union in order to work.

My kids (1st and 4th grades) go to a great charter school and I absolutely love it. My 4th graders math homework has variables in it! I didn't see variables until I got to the 9th grade. She started 2nd grade at a public school and when she got into the charter school, her homework more than doubled. The best way to describe it is that it's like a private school that you don't pay extra for.

Agree, here in CT, if I had kids, they would either go to Charters, or Catholic schools. They make public education look absolutely pitiful in comparison.

Bob Jones University is the best University.

Most people will not submit to their strict standards but their graduates perform well.

Oh and btw.... Most if not all Ivy League schools are private plus Duke, Stanford, Emory, Northwestern, Georgetown, ND, Davidson,... IOW's, the nations best academic schools outside of the military academies are almost exclusively private.

I agree. If you look at all the nations on Earth the more privatized education is the more educated the populace is.

If you are insenuating there is a cause-effect relationship between poverty and the degree education is privatized then you are dead wrong.

because teachers tend to be idealists that have never worked a real job in their life.

Let's see I have a BS and Masters in Special Ed. I teach a self contained severe emotional behavior disorder class. I have kids that may spend time in jail or a mental hospital. At times if these kids are going to be a danger to themselves or other students, they have to be physically restrained. I've been hit, bit, had clothes torn, been called more names than Carter has little liver pills. I have to be like a daddy to most of these kids. If you don't think there are any teachers that earn their money, come spend a day or two in mine! I bet you come away with a different point of view.

Not sure what you're trying to say, but all the nations with the best education are nations you would consider "socialist". South Korea for instance, pays their teachers the equivalent of $144,000 a year. The Scandinavian countries are also some of the best. The countries with the most "privatized" education not so much.

Yes, that is truly what I think. You are a very sharp individual.

You seem to be having trouble getting your point across. Aside from the absurdity about South Korea, which was crystal clear and wrong, we seem to be struggling with piecing together your apparent genius.

Perhaps you're just stupid? Don't just throw bull**** out there either. My point about South Korea is not wrong.

Presumably you've been to South Korea? Or are you just buying crap you read somewhere?

My inability to decipher your intent regarding Sowell's gig absolutely shows I'm stupid. Your cryptic point was genius. You apparently know more about that than you do education in South Korea.

You don't have to go to South Korea to know what they pay their public employees. You really think people in Canada have no way of knowing what American teachers make?

It isn't about what they pay employees. It's about their education system. That pay is a function of locale and not the enormous value they're placing on educators.

You have to go to understand the context of the stats you're spouting.

"That pay is a function of locale" what the heck? No it's not they pay educators 2.5 times national average because they value their educators.
