We dont need a proven winner here, i want somebody like Dooley. This board would be boring if we was winning.

Yeah he's kinda scummy. But he could win us a national championship. Like soon.

I'm torn on this one. It's not my first choice, but he would probably be the most sure winner we could hire.

Mel Kiper, Jr. was just talking about UT and the other guy brought up James Franklin. He said if he could do what hes done at Candy then he would excel at a school like UT with the advantages we have over Candy. Mel said He would get Petrino because he is a great football coach and would do great at UT.


I don't want either except maybe Petrino if all good hires fall thru. It was nice to hear the two ESPN guys speak about UT in a way that says a good coach would do great here.

Most of the respected media say the same thing. Petrino would be the very best option for UT. Forget that you can get him on the cheap. He is proven. He is a winner.

Seems the only ones who feel as though Petrino shouldnt even be considered are the fans the have a delusional sense of UT. UT is a very good university with a great football history in a conference that is obcessed with winning football games.

i think if you polled people nationally, and asked them for the first word that comes to mind when they hear "University of Tennessee" , the most frequent answer would be football.

Tennessee is a football school. Some people act as though
" our reputation for having the highest degree of morals and integrity would be tarnished"

Fact is that with the exception of some of the alums of UT, nobody outside Knoxville gives a rats ass about those things. Nationally there might be a 3 day scoff at UT for hiring Petrino and then after that it will be forgotten and out of the media.

The next mention of UT and Petrino would be when we start winning games like we were doing several years ago and actually become relevant again.

Pretty sure it has no chance of happening, but that right there would make me stop giving a s*** about the football program. Hell, I'd rather have kept Dooley for another year than hire Petrino. That pos is a snake that jumps from ship to ship and has no morals.

I'm a VFL, but I can't get behind a pile of s***.

Hart's speech pretty much eliminated Petrino from the discussion. He used terms like "integrity" and Petrino has none of that. He might be a winner, but he's a dip$hit. UT does not need anything resembling dissention right now. The next coach absolutely must be able to unify the fans to the maximum extent possible.

I want Gruden like most everybody else; but I would understand if Hart went with Petrino ONLY if UT set favorable clauses. UT is in a bad hole right now and IMO Petrino possibly would accecpt the job with less of a buyout, less upfront money and UT could set bonuses for performance. JMO

1.) As long as the coach has a winning record as a HC & 2.) I don't have to google him to find out who he is ; I'll be satisfied mostly.

Didn't Hart say something about the next coach having integrity? You can safely mark Bobby P off the list..
