The NO Bobby Petrino Petition

Im just gonna say read my post in this thread i just put about what Tony Barnhart just said about Petrino. If you can still say you want Petrino with the dozens of issues that follow him from job to job and even worse recently at Ark then I cant discuss it with you. Anyone that has played as you say and with or without Orange colored glasses can honestly say this is a man you want running the most important money maker of the university and then I truely feel sorry for you or anyone else that could possibly want that POS. And no beating Saban doesnt have to be a prerequisite, if thats the case then Tubby or Miles would be my first choices.

Once again, QUIT before someone believes your lies.
You dont know what your talking about.

Were talking Petrino, NOT Calipari. He has never left a school with any potential NCAA issues. Could he have caused Arkansas some problems outside the NCAA, yes? Yes, but again, NO NCAA issues !!!!!

Petrino would win BIG here....Just sayin!

I think he would be the best value hire of any option we have. We would be getting a 3.5-4 million dollar coach on a 5 year deal for about 1.2 that. Clause in the contract that we be paid big bucks if he left early. I think it is the best option. I understand some fans would not like it at 1st. Let him beat UF or Oregon next year and the fanbase would be forgiving. He is a great coach.

Also, at 2-2.5 million for Petrino, we could afford to allow him to go get the best DC money could buy.

Your post seem to be extremely interested in the money aspect of this issue. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that at all but it seems to me the money folks at Tennessee have hit the point where money isn't a big of issue as you post suggest.

Do you think finding the best coach for the best cost is an important part of this process?

Ok man please read and interpret before you post and embarass yourself. Where in anything that I posted said NCAA issues? I will be glad to apologize if you can find where I posted infractions or ncaa issues. I will be waiting!

You did use the words "compliance issues."
You clarified that later but compliance is a word used web discussing NCAA rules.

Better? Your out of your mind, this guy is the best coach in football.

Safer? No doubt

Best coach in football? Are you serious? How many NC's does he have? How many SEC Titles has he won? What about SuperBowl? Here's an easy one. How many top recruiting classes or even top 5 or 10 has he had? What big time college job has he had? And no Arkansas is not a big time job. Its a good job, not great or elite. Please stop!

I tend to look at the cost/salary/value of a coach. I do that because UT has never shown they would spend big time money for a head coach. I get that alot of people say this time will be different. Until it is, I just think money comes into play alot more than some want to think it would. There are a few coaches I think are worth big time money. There are some I see as very overpaid for their resume. I see no reason to throw 4 million dollars at a coach worth 2 million just to say "we got a big time hire now". JMO

Your right to an extent but those were TB's words not mine. He was just saying he has broken rule after rule and had done stuff at Arky that none of us may ever know. Basically saying no SEC team especially UT and AU could or would never hire him knowing all the things the AD's know that he did at Ark. Finebaum in a round about way said Slive to an extent has encouraged AD's not to hire Petrino. He cant tell them not to hire him but one of those off the record SEC pact type of deal. If true thats not done just because a man cheated on his wife. Would honestly love to hear everything he did there.

I am starting to believe that slive will do everything he can to keep bobby p out of the SEC.

That's a very fair opinion. Here is my devils advocate.

True worth of a coach depends on each situation. Meaning overpaying to get the right fit is ok in desperate or critical times in a program. I think we are there. Overpaying if you have the money is exceptable IMO in our current situation.

I could definitely see that happening. He has tried to clean the conference up and has done a good job imo. Im not sure knowing what the AD's know that any would hire him anyway but he is a really good coach so some school could sell their soul and hire him. UT has enough problems we dont need him making it worse for a few wins.

You mentioned "schools" and "issues every place hes been" within the same sentence?

Call me crazy, but I thnk most could deduce from your sentence that you were implying NCAA.

Alot of "supposed" stuff happens at just about every school. IF the NCAA is not looking into it or investigating it, then it means little to nothing in the big picture. "Ya know what I heard" is not a good reason to try and use it to avoid a coach. Walking out on Louisville, and taking the midnight train out of ATL is a reason for some to pass on the guy. Either school could have fired him a week before without cause and noone says a word. A coach can and should be able to leave at any time for any reason. If I want to quit my job, that is my right. The guy had a fling with a young blonde. OMG!!! He did the chic he was sleeping with a favor and gave her a job she may not have deserved(She could have been hired through justified channels just as easily). He got caught and has paid the price. IMO, he is the best value in the coaching market. Butch Jones would be #2.

Not saying BP is a good recruiter, because he hasnt proven to be, however I for one believe that recruiting rankings are somewhat over blown. See the 2009 vols class as well see BP's mostly low ranked Arkansas recruiting classes.

Finishing toward the bottom of the SEC in recruiting, resulted in top 5 and top 10 end of season rankings for Petrino. I'd rather finish top 5 in the polls the way Arkansas did and have crappy recruiting, versus recruiting highly ranked classes and finishing the season unranked in the final polls.

If anything, his time at Arkansas proved just how brilliant he is at winning with average players and makes you pause to wonder what he could do if he had talent the way others in the SEC do.

Not that anyone cares, but the day we hire Petrino, is the day i quit splitting my donations between athletics and academics at UT and start giving exclusively to academics.

I really could care less he was keeping time with someone else. He wasn't the first and won't be the last. That's his business. What I can't forgive is his complete lack of loyalty to every organization with which he has been associated.

Here are some things that I don't understand, and I'm trying not to be judgemental, so I'm sorry if it comes out that way: Does it not matter to most UT fans that Petrino essentially bilked the tax-payers of AR? I really thought he should be prosecuted for his malfeasence and yet, any number of UT fans (and other schools, to be fair) are ready to roll out the red carpet for him. Not to mention, he is a prostitute who will leave in a minute if there is a better offer on the table or when he gets caught with his hand in the cookie (jar) again. Does character really not matter at all any more? Was nothing learned from Lane Kiffin about getting in bed with douchebags? Football coach at University of TN is a great job and there is someone out there who can come in, recruit, develop and win without bringing enough baggage that FedEx will have fly it in on one of their 737s.

Count me as one of those that doesnt...

No to Petrino. Don't want anymore Kiffin type baggage. I can just imagine him making home visits and the Mothers and Grandmothers knowing his history and not wanting their kids around him. Good coach....but no thanks. We can do better I think.
