The Numbers Thread

LV, in all seriousness what do you think of this recruiting strategy?

Love it.

If you were to look back at my 1st posts on this board, you would see I have always wanted to see us recruit more like Mack did when he was at TX. Lock the class up early, tell them to commit they need to shut things down and then roll with the kids you took. CBJ seems to be headed in that direction.

Back then he locked up the state with high rated recruits and there was little guessing if his classes were going to stick together. We don't have that luxury yet. I would like for us to be able to recruit that way though. Now I can count on one hand how many more we can take. Here is who I want: Richmond, Tuttle, Phillips, and another CB. Someone has to go.

Our class is starting to fill up fast. And the two I have been hoping to land is Cameron Ordway & Kyle Phillips. Does anyone know how many kids we can sign for this class?

You are about to awaken the commit count Nazis.

But to answer your question there is going to be some who are asked to look elsewhere who have already committed I feel.

Nothing against Cameron, but as far as in state guys, my top two wants at this point are Kyle Phillips and Drew Richmond. Then next would probably be to flip Rico McGraw or get Van Jefferson.

Phillips and Richmond fits the needs right now, but McGraw has that it factor that you cant teach, he will be a beast, in the end he might be the best of the bunch, I am greedy lest get all three.:)If they want to kick some azz they all 3 will come, we are coming and will be doing a lot of serious azz kicking real soon on the HILL IN KNOXVILLE TENNESSEE ON SATURDAY NIGHTS.:clapping:

That sucks...somewhat necessary at times..but it just sucks for some kid who wants to be a VOL.

I think Woods would be the only possibility at least for right now. He is the only commit who reports seem to point grades may be an issue.

Keep it real I like it. I'd just take Reid and Stewart off that list and add a few more. One or two we love will drop just like my personal favorite recruit last year, Kouhon

You misspelled your favorite recruit from last year.....it's Mouhon.

I think Tuttle, Sapp, and Richmond will close out this class and if that is the case this will be an amazing group. Ordway might still get a spot but it is looking less likely.

Maybe the people so focused on numbers can finally admit how wrong they are and the numbers don't matter right now. Fat will be trimmed if better players want to commit.

We are not to 24 yet. Maybe CBJ feels the kids he has taken commitments from are the better players? :good!:

More *'s per a recruiting service does not always mean "better player". The UT coaches make those evaluations themselves.

I didn't say more stars. I said better players specifically.

So you think we only take 1-2 more players no matter how many of our high priority guys want in. So if Sweat, Sapp, Richmond, Martin, Ordway , Jefferson, Love want in he only takes 2 and tells the others we have no room?
