The Numbers Thread

So you can announce blue shirt players, Bruce and Perry just haven't been admitted yet? Does that mean Robertson was a BS.

You can announce preferred walk ons. And technically we have four guys who fall in that category of our 29.

so why not just do that with perry and bruce also?

That part I don't understand. Unless Butch has a reason to be overly paranoid about the other two (Oliver being able the one that comes to mind because a lot of people were after him).

So by doing it this way most people believe these guys did sign, and that they can't contact them.

Can't announce if they haven't been admitted to the University.

So there is the answer. We had 2 of our 4 admitted and were able to get them to agree to keep it hush. Which means good things for them too if they are committed to being at UT. I mean if you know you want to be at UT why would you want to take calls?

I love that we finished with as many 5 stars as the Bammers and that they didn't finish first this year! Going on three years since they played for a title might be giving some breathing space to some other programs recruiting. GBO!

Butch knows how the numbers work. The UTAD compliance folks are well versed in how it all works as well. No worries. Just enjoy. Contrary to LV's approach.

They're not on campus until fall camp starts. They will go on scholarship as soon as they get here.

As I was saying......they are technically walkons. That's the entire reason "blueshirting" even exists.

You legally count a kid as a walkon (to avoid conference regulations on the number of players you can take). Then after practice starts you claim you are rewarding this walkon with an available scholarship due to their play.

This. The concept is pretty clear. I don't understand the confusion.

I get that. The difference is the BS comes in knowing he is going to be put on scholarship, unlike a traditional walk on.

With the recent departures, we have 58 scholarship players on campus, leaving room for 27 in this class. The 27 plus the 2 blueshirts= 85 scholarship players. Crazy how these number thing all seem to work out

How can Butch speak publicly about them if they haven't signed a LOI?

I believe preffered walk ons do sign something. I remeber him announcing our preferred walk ons last year as a part of the recruiting class.
