The Numbers Thread

If it is 5, that's going to be interesting.

VQ said UT wants 2 RBs and 3-4WRs in 2016. The board seemed to think that did not include the BSs.

We have 7 current commits. Plus 5 BSs. If you add in the 5-6 RB/WRs, things just got crazy quick.

I think my list would go, Washington, Holyfield, Falcon. I like Emmons probably top 2 talent wise. Imo I doubt he's a real factor though.

I'm going with Holyfield and Young for now.

I think the idea for '16 is to sign 2 elite RB's and call it a day. Young doesn't factor into those plans whatsoever.

Someone asked VQ how many RBs and WRs UT would take in 2016. VQ said they figured on 2 RBs and 3-4 WRs. Of course that was before UT took Young and in doing so took a spot away from the 2016 class. That's why I asked.

I'm pretty sure Young is an insurance policy at RB and will end up more of a special teamer. I think if Jones can get 2 2016 RB's in the top 10 on their big board, they're going to take them regardless of the addition of Young. I'd also bet there'll be some blueshirts etc in the 2016 class. I think Jones has proven that he'll make the numbers work to meet team needs.

In my 2016 class I put Bruce at RB as I figured they would take 2. I put Perry at WR as I figured on 3.

2 backs plus Bruce, 3-4 receivers plus Perry would be up to 8 spots. Already 7 committed(QB,TE,OL,LB,and 3CBs), 9 with the 2 BSs. Possibly up to 11 if there is indeed 2 "quiet" BSs. The 7 guys committed, none of them are RBs Or WRs. Would be interesting to see it all fit.

I was looking back at the comments in this thread and LV's got me thinking. Here's a look at what I see at this point in time.

Total class=25- 3BS=22 available spots.
Proposed Position Breakdown
QB - 1 (Kendall)
RB - 2 (Young)
TE - 1 (Brooks, Middleton?)
WR - 3 (Perry, Bruce)
OL - 4 (Johnson)

DE - 2
DT - 2
LB - 3 (Bridges)
CB - 2 (Banks, Osborne, Phillips)
S - 2
ST - 0
Total 22 (Young, Perry, Bruce don't count in the 22. I just put them in with the commits so we could see the overall picture.)

My spread of the 22 is based on a simple replenishment schedule. Under normal conditions, 3 at RB might be one too high, but we are short in depth. Young is an insurance policy, and I agree that he will probably see more time on STs than at RB. But he gives immediate help. 5 at WR would be a bit high. That position will definitely need watching as the recruiting progresses and needs emerge. I think 2 TEs is too high. Middleton could be left out depending how other needs emerge.

There are 15-16 SRs who will graduate this year. We would need to see 9-10 leave early to get to that 25 number. While IMO the attrition needs to slow down, its possible we still lose that many this year.

We currently have 10 WR on scholarship. If Blanc leaves that would leave us with 9. 3 of them (Pig, Pearson, and J Johnson) are seniors. It's also quite possible that North could declare for the draft after the season. 5 WR is very possible for the 2016 class.

I count 12 seniors on the roster. I think we could also see a couple of guys leave early for the draft.

I think we will continue to see players transfer as the roster shakes out. If players like Blair don't step up, they will be gone. With this new class, the competition for spots and playing time will be intense. Also CBJ and staff will continue to remold the culture of the roster. Quitters need not apply!!!

Z has already stated on Sports Animal that there are plans for 4 in the 2016 class. Don't think it applied to BS's. So if Bruce goes to RB as Butch wants and not to WR as Z wants, that leaves Perry for WR to make the 5.

Does that include BSs? Also I don't think UGA took Emmons commitment.

Thanks for posting. Having the top prospects listed as well helps. I can't believe how close I was to their position spread. Sometimes even I get lucky!!!!!

I've got a lot of reading to do to learn about all these new guys. I'm guess that the whole 2016 class will be 4* when it is all said and done.

Not sure what you are asking?

They think we take 23-24 based off their needs projections.

If we really did have 4 BS' this class then we would have to BS any players over 21 we take next year.

Who knows how many we actually did though.
