The Obligatory Post-loss Bruce Pearl thread (merged)

Any evidence in those 8 yet? That's all I said.

You are challenging Martin's ability to coach, but you choose to ignore Pearl's struggles with smaller schools as well, not to mention the talent difference between teams.

If you honestly can not see the difference in talent levels between this UT team and last year then you are a damn idiot.

Quiet, Internet Tough Guy.

You are *****ing about a coach losing to Austin Peay, and defending a guy who lost to Charleston and Charlotte with more talent. You can be mad at Martin, that's reasonable, but your ridiculous and hypocritical argument isn't.

Pearl was fired and should have been. I've never thought Pearl should be the coach after last season. But comparing Pearl to Martin is expected, and frankly reasonable.

It is, and I understand it. Saying that this loss is somehow worse than Pearl's team getting waxed by Charleston or putting up a whopping 48 on Charlotte isn't.

They lost to Charleston and Charlotte last year with a roster that was about 100 times better. Are you guys serious with this crap?

I would actually make a case that this team isn't as bad as you say, at least 100 times. If you take Tobias out of the picture, there isn't a huge discrepancy in talent between Melvin-Golden, Maymon-Williams, and from what I see of McRae in the last 4 games he can disappear from a game just as well as Hopson. Offensively this team seems to be able to shoot about as well, defensively they are pitiful, which is supposed to be Martin's calling card.

Better yet a popup everytime someone comes into the forum.

This Austin Peay team was 1 and 9. How do you explain this loss by a team that played Memphis to a tie? Martin has them going in the wrong direction doesn't he? This loss is on the Coaches. Like I said before I hope Martin is better than Pearl, but it is highly unlikely. I hope I never sink to the level of calling for a coach to be fired. On the other hand I still have enormous doubts about this staffs ability to coach in the SEC.

This team has less talent than last. But that is no excuse for losing to AP.

Well said.

Are you really trying to argue that Chris Lofton wasn't a great player?? I understand you're trying to win an arguement, but that is just damn stupid to say.

I love Lofton. He excelled in Pearl's system beyond anyone's expectations.
