The Obligatory Post-loss Bruce Pearl thread (merged)

Yeah, it would be real awesome to bring him back and let the NCAA hammer us a couple years later. You guys are ridiculous with this blind coach love.

NCAA doesn't hammer anyone anymore..there is a reason Ohio State, North Carolina, and FSU a few years back did not get hammered..If NCAA started doing that they would lose the support from presidents and athletic directors risking all colleges going independent from the whole process:

What is purpose of the NCAA?: Donald H. Yee | cleveland.com

NCAA's process for applying penalties and convoluted set of rules has led to as much confusion as anything, so the years of death penalties is over.

Let's not play dumb here. We lost 5 of our top 6 scorers.

Off a team that completely fell apart. Our current starting 5 isn't a big drop off from last year talent-wise sans Tobias.

There are no excuses for this team losing to Oakland and AP.

And why do you think that team fell apart?

Probably has something to do with the fact that not only did he get us investigated (and would have gotten us sanctioned if we hadn't canned his sorry ass) but managed to leave the basketball team in worse shape than Fulmer left the football team.

Pearl took a less talent team and won when no one else could, At least he was Man enough to acknowledge his mistake...More than most people I know. :lolabove: You really need to look at his won loss record.

Underachiever or not, there's nobody on our roster that can do what Scotty Hopson could last year. And I'd say Brian Williams and Melvin Goins would be welcome additions to this year's roster as well.

We're worse at the 1, 2, 4 and maybe 5.

Since this is a Pearl thread. How did he do in his first 8 games with church league type players?

You mean players like one of the best players in UT history? Or an extremely talented center? Or one of the best defenders I have seen at UT? Tell me which of those this team has.

Never! There are far too many other options. We do not need to settle for a cheating liar. We can do better than Bruce. We are UT!

Agreed - Pearl is a liar; On the other hand, who isn't? As for doing better than Pearl, when have we EVER done better than Pearl? I personally hope he has learned from his mistake and one day soon - 3 years - returns to the Summitt

And the 3 is the same person.

So Jerry Green is a good coach now, too?

Scotty is single most frustrating player on UT's roster in the last 20 years. I think Jordan could be a better player than Scotty.

Oh yeah, and that church league point guard who was the backup point guard for the team with the best record in the NBA last year. That guy sucked.

Let's not play dumb here. We lost 5 of our top 6 scorers and the one that returned this year is a threat to not be able to throw it in the ocean on a lot of nights.

First - Nice choice of pro teams, I am all ATL as well...even the Hawks!

There are many teams with attrition, but when you go to the tourney every year, it is hard to believe that we have downgraded bad enough to lose to a 2-9 Austin Peay team.

I guess I'm in the minority in thinking the coach had a lot to do with their success. Seeing how those guys have done at the next level and all.

Sanctioned from what. The NCAA tourney is way out of our reach with martin. GET IT. We aren't going to the tourney anyway. We would have been better off to eat
the sanctions and kept Pearl.

They lost to Charleston and Charlotte last year with a roster that was about 100 times better. Are you guys serious with this crap?

Arguing otherwise just doesn't make sense.
