The "Occupy" Rallies

In case anyone was wondering why utgibbs hasn't jumped into these "occupy" threads it appears he has more pressing matters.

He is occupying LA:

“One of the speakers said the solution is nonviolent movement. No, my friend. I’ll give you two examples: French Revolution, and Indian so-called Revolution.

Gandhi, Gandhi today is, with respect to all of you, Gandhi today is a tumor that the ruling class is using constantly to mislead us. French Revolution made fundamental transformation. But it was bloody.

India, the result of Gandhi, is 600 million people living in maximum poverty.

So, ultimately, the bourgeoisie won’t go without violent means. Revolution! Yes, revolution that is led by the working class.

Long live revolution! Long live socialism!”

Why hasn't LG labeled OWS as anti-semitic? We've heard at least one blatant AS rant and several signs. That is sufficient evidence to label the movement.

You can probably find one or two people in both movements carrying signs about spaceship aliens.

The TP was a direct reaction to the election of Obama as POTUS. Thus, the number of TP protestors carrying or saying anti-black slogans or conveying racist messages was much more noticeable and much larger, as a proportion of the entirety, than the few nutjobs you speak of within the OWS rallies.

The reactionary media, fed by Murdoch, Breitbart, and others of their ilk, are out in full force intentionally trying to warp the image of the movement by finding the worst looking, most haggard, of the bunch.

But its not working. Recent polls show that over 60 percent of New Yorkers support the OWS message.

BS - I'd say the proportion was much smaller given how much larger the TP is than OWS. You have zero facts to support this claim.

What a laugh - this is exactly what happened to the TP. A search for any sign of racism and actual infiltration by anti-TP folks to do so.

The King of the Double Standard strikes again.

Irony? The Occupiers are peeved that there are thieves within their ranks. Property rights for me, but not for thee.

For the millionth time, that vast majority have no problem with capitalism and indeed what makes this so acute is that they can't find jobs.

The protest is not of capitalism -- it is of the corruption that keeps capitalism from working.

so, squatting in a privately owned park for over a month is supposed to be a resume building exercise?

I haven't seen anything indicating their support for capitalism. I see people whining about student loan debt and demanding more government intervention on behalf of the "99%"

Please explain to me why they want college to be free for every one. That will only de-value their useless degrees even more.

hard to find them when you're sleeping in your own filth in a NYC park

In some instances, it could be argued that some Occupiers were trying to save or create jobs. Take the cop car defecator, for example. At first glance we think, what a douche! In his mind, however, he single handedly kept the car washing proletariats employed.

I don't believe the racist signs were any more prevalent at the TP rallies as the anti-semitic signs have been at OWS. Saying otherwise is stretching the truth.

What is the typical left-right breakdown in New York? Is it really surprising that 60% back the lefties? Obama won 64% of New York in '08, and an even greater percentage in NYC. I would think 60% support for OWS indicates a step back.
