The "Occupy" Rallies

How about them claiming what a great country North Korea is. WTF, are there people that are literally that stupid in this country?

They were in disbelief when he talked about the cannibalism in North Korea. How can anybody know anything about North Korea without knowing that? It may be the most damning and shocking indictment of a political system that I've ever heard.

that's worse than Michael Moore's and utgibbs' claims of Cuba being a wonderful place full of individual freedoms and great healthcare

Seriously. They celebrate that everyone in North Korea gets paid! What they get paid? Who cares!

Oh yeah. She said they get "paid high wages". Yeah they get paid a ladle full of rice and are told to go back to work or risk being thrown in the dungeon.

If this was North Korea those 2 dipsh!ts would be the first ones thrown in the gulag.

Again, lots of talk in here stating that socialism is communism. Obviously some of the protesters have no clue, either. I haven't seen the video, but sounds like idiots on both sides per usual.

Would you say that the USSR as a communist country was not operating under a socialism approach vs a capitalistic approach?

Communism in practice is an extreme end under the socialist umbrella. Socialism generally means a communal or state owned means of production, the principle concept of communism is the abolition of all private property.

It was not capilalistic. Not really socialism, either, in the sense that the USSR's economic policies weren't directed at bettering citizens, only benefiting the government. I've stated before, communism is a governmental policy whereas socialism is a economic policy.

communism is both political and economic whereas socialism is primarily economic. the USSR system did have core elements of socialism - public property, distribution of wealth by the collective, etc.

I was thinking about that... I drove past the "occupy" protesters in my city and there were homeless people nearby just laying around. The homeless probably think they are a bunch of *******s. The homeless probably aren't living on the street by choice. Yet these idiot protesters have homes and beds to sleep in - but instead choose to live in a park amongst dog **** and birds. Who looks more sane?

http://www.cbo.gov/publications/collections/tax/2009/average_before-tax_income.pdf

In 2006 dollars, average income by quintile:

1979: 16,200 35,100 52,700 71,200 136,400
2006: 17,200 39,400 60,700 89,500 248,400

Every economic sector in America is better off today (or, at least in 2006) than they were in 1979. What exactly is "Occupy" upset about?

Good question. Their grievances seem to change with unsurprising regularity. Sometimes they're mad about wealth inequality. Other times theyre mad about the political influence exerted by millionaires and billionaires. At one point, it wasn't fair that the banks were bailed out. I don't know what they're mad about today
