Runs and jumps better, but plays worse defense, rebounds less and shoots worse. Many beleve he'll play in the NBA. Maybe he'll replicate CLo's AA awards or POY trophy, but I doubt it.

Exactly. Just proves the point that you don't just dismiss the "dive ballers" as players who suck. Lofton, as a sophomore, was a better player for us than Hopson is currently.

I was a ball diver myself. And I'm well aware now and at the time that I had a lot less talent than the playmakers. Don't think they suck, but you can't win with 5 of them.

What? You didn't know K, Calhoun, Huggs, and Jamie Dixon all have Miss Cleo on speed dial? Dionne Warwick and her Psychic Friends have long been the key to the successes of Roy Williams and Bill Self.

The above coaches have never missed on a recruit...what? Lots of times? With big recruits and small?

You hit it on the head Hat, there sure are.
Talented guys that play "hard" as you call it go to POWERHOUSES.
Guys thatjust play hard- mostly AA schools and some 5th years that reach the floor
Guys that are just talented- Mediocre BCS schools,( yep, that's us).

Before yall show me 1 guy that goes against what I'm saying here, I mean this as a general rule.

I'll be sitting courtside Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas for Kansas State-UNLV. I guarantee I won't see a game all year where the two teams play harder. Both teams have multiple guys who are going to make a very good living playing basketball. Frank and Lon are going to be so excited when I tell them their programs are "POWERHOUSES."

1 guy? Look throughout NBA rosters. There are hordes that didn't go powerhouse. Better yet, find the winners and see how many didn't get the offer to powerhouse U.

Way to read the fine print. See the quote and you'll see I addressed your argument already.

Oh boy...UNLV has no history and is not a top 25 team right now right?

Unsaid is that the awful Arizona team almost beat them...

Almost? Wow.

UNLVs basketball history is just a tinge shy of powerhouse.
Santa Clara almost beat Vegas Saturday night. I need to call Keating and tell him he almost defeated a powerhouse this weekend.

Papa, I appreciate your posts.
Of course there are. But as a rule, where do top tier talent guys that "play hard" go? To traditional powers. There are X number players every year, so we can all find kids that go against certain patterns. Good LBs go to PSU. Obviously not all good lb go to pennst, but you get the idea right?

I don't buy this any more. Was true 25 years ago, but no longer.

What a circle jerk.
Quite the understatement of the year. The information gained from this forum used to be somewhat of a shining beacon. Lately, it seems that people are more interested in a johnson measuring contest across state lines...

... which makes about as much sense as a Jamaican buying a peacoat.

Can I get you to admit that its a little harder to get these kids at TN than at UC,UNC,UCLA,Zona,KY.MSU? At least a little, cmon now!

I agree completely. Until you make a splash in the tournament and get some kids to the NBA, all the great ones are looking at the above schools prior to looking at TN. Pearl has done a good job in recruiting considering our history. However, he now has the challenge of doing something with this talent.

I personally think we should be able to compete with Cincinnati for recruits.

Can I get you to admit that it's easier at UT than Gonzaga, Butler, George Mason, Marquette, Western Kentucky, and Davidson. Just to name a few? C'mon man! And they have had more success recently than we have in the tournament.

Sure, but who's UC? If that's UConn, Calhoun did some heavy lifting in a tough conference.

There is a figurative door up in here somewhere.

Whichever UC he's talking about, Big Jim and Huggs both inherited far bigger messes than what Pearl took over. If it's easy to get players at those places, it's because of the work they did.

I watch people for a living. The crap I read here qualifies as "research."

Just would like more of an educated debate than a pissing contest. I don't like to work during my off time.

Like I said, this forum used to be my favorite to visit for the information, which, by the way, used to come from such informed posters like Hat and yourself. Just let some of it go.
