Pure PGs aren't necessarily the norm anymore. Bone was close to being that, but after bringing the ball across mid-court and sometimes taking the ball straight to the rim even he shared much of the floor general stuff. The Steve Nash, John Stockton, Danny Shultz, Rodney Woods, Johnny Darden, etc. types just seem to be less common like the huge center/low posts that were the primary option of offenses.
It's fine to have one guy get the ball across the time line, another to set the offense in motion, another to drive to the basket, another to feed the post. It's not necessary to have a pure PG that does all of those things. Actually depending on one player to do so much can be a disadvantage. If a defense shuts that person down it will be nearly possible to overcome.
