It wouldn't surprise me. Could easily lose next 3. At best, go 1-2, 16-15 going into tourney with no momentum doesn't fill one with confidence.
Man I always manage to go long stretches without looking in the game threads and then I lose discipline and do it and am reminded why I try to avoid them. The sheer level of idiocy is embarrassing
I’m going to say something that could be very unpopular but needs to be said.. we shouldn’t expect to turn around and be a great team next year. Yes we bring in three really talented players, but they will be freshman. We have no proven back to the basket post threat. We could be really good, but right now there’s no reason to believe we will be. That could be apathy, but I feel it’s truth.
It would be completely rational to be upset, even very upset, with Rick Barnes were we to miss the tourney next year. Being super upset with him this year is just a sign that one’s expectations were foolish or one just enjoys complainingYou might be right, but if we miss the Tourney again next year with the incredible expectations, the you better believe the fire RB threads will start up
I will join 'em if UT misses the "Dance", next year. As long as everybody comes back minus maybe JJ, missing the NCAA's is inexcusable. This isn't the 80s, freshmen have carried past Champions on their back, like Carmelo at Syracuse and Anthony Davis at Kentucky. I know everybody says UT doesn't get that kind of 5 stars, but we did this time. Springer is one and done, I would give 100 to 1 odds on that and the only reason Keon won't be, is because he needs to fine tune his 3 shot, some. Keon will be 2 and done and I would give the same odds as Springer. Pons and Fulk will end up drafted in the 2nd round after their senior years and if all these things don't happen, it doesn't matter. Vols should still make the Tournament and if not, Barnes deserves to be ripped and on the hot seat, imoYou might be right, but if we miss the Tourney again next year with the incredible expectations, the you better believe the fire RB threads will start up
He did, maybe still does, but I never have seen it. I was pretty adamantly opposed to signing him, then came the preseason reports that he was showing some close similarities to Grant William's as a FR, and I had hoped I was wrong. Yet, he has shown absolutely nothing in the floor when it mattered to pull me off my original opinion.Seemed like Barnes had really high hopes for him early in the year.
Me too. I've riding with worse teams than this one. Tennessee has had some REALLY bad basketball teams in my lifetime.Anyway, I'm still riding and probably dying with these Vols. Win these last 3 games and one in the SEC Tourney and UT is in the "Dance", for sure, imo. Others think UT does not need a SEC Tourney win, if we win out, but I think it is a must, considering how teams like Ark, MSU, Florida and USC continue to win to wrap up the SEC season. In the immortal words of Yogi Berra, "it's not over 'til it's over"
Yes, sir. Best seats I ever had was right behind the UT bench when Wade was coaching and Allan was balling against Huggins Cincy Bearcats and Nick Van Exel. They blew UT out and that was the night I realized Wade was not a head coach. I actually think that was one of Wade's better teams at UT and they were badMe too.
