I just laugh at the range of emotions. I'm officially "meh" on the hire. Not the worst hire but I'm also not going to twist myself into a pretzel trying to make out like it's a home run hire. And like clockwork the people that want him to be a homerun hire are starting the apologetics for it. This after saying White wasn't going to settle for such a hire; now it's "White knows him better than anyone". It's comical.

He may be fine, he may suck, personally I think it's a pretty underwelming hire but given the sanctions about to hit it's probably a stop gap anyway. We're not going to be good for a long time.

I wonder what Chaney’s status is. It seems silly to pay him $1.5 million to not coach when he can also be paid $1.5 million to coach. I put the 2020 offensive issues on Pruitt/Fulmer rather than Chaney.

I noticed that, too. That's a rarity, but athletically, Johnson is a special athlete. He's also stronger than what looking at his frame might suggest.

To be fair, That’s the way Cornbread did things at his last head coaching job.....at a high school.

Yeah, another Dooley/Jones/Pruitt-quality hire. I used to think the athletic department didn't care about basketball, but they're not putting a lot of effort into football either imo.

This, and people that still think Tennessee is a Top 10 job need to come to reality. Sure there is the NCAA stuff coming but we've been hearing "no one wants the job" for 11 years now. On paper it's a Top 10 job, but in reality it's definitely not right now.

Honestly it sounds like White swung for some big names and didn't get a bite. It's a meh hire for sure and I doubt we'll be good anytime soon, but the truth is the job just isn't what it used to be. We're living on past glory.

I think I feel similarly to you. I think it's a fine hire considering the circumstances, we are such a dumpster fire right now, but at least we didn't make a hire equivalent to Dooley. I have some hopes because of this article detailing how some of the underlying metrics indicate JH's first two UCF teams actually improved on Frost's last team

Every home game has been announced officially as 4,191 attendance. The UConn game was the largest attendance for the Lady Vols this year (3,553).

Well its cause its artificially capped for Covid spacing reasons. Generally there are at least 4,200 people who want to go, but not generally 22,000
