I don't necessarily disagree there as Beard has no natural connection to Ole Miss, but a lot of people thought the same thing about Pearl and Auburn. The thought was he'd go there and rehab his image for a few years and then bolt for a better job, but he's been there 9 years, now. What’s funny is that he’s 100% using them to clean up his name, couple years down the line and assuming he’s having success and he’s bolting to a better job.
Very true…of course his ties to Georgia and southeast make him being in the SEC more sensible than Beard, but your point makes sense. His pool of schools will always be shrunk because of this, some will just absolutely stay away regardless, but I just think a chance to get back to the Texas area would be something he’s looking for. Potentially Houston in a few years when Sampson moves on.I don't necessarily disagree there as Beard has no natural connection to Ole Miss, but a lot of people thought the same thing about Pearl and Auburn. The sad truth is that Ole Miss will benefit from this, in my opinion. They were willing to ignore obvious facts in hopes that winning would prevail. The University of Tennessee canned Pearl, Tyndall, and Pruitt. We said no to all those transgressions, despite the possible negative consequences. I’m proud of our university for protecting truth over wins. Shame on the administrators of Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama, and LSU for the winning at all costs mantra.I honestly hope it comes back to bite them very badly. I hope they suck and they have to let him go and it sets them back even further.
Earlier in the bracket it projected. The computers clearly love defense. View attachment 540897

That's kind of my point, though. Pearl's ceiling is mostly capped because of his baggage, and Beard's may he, as well. Pearl has had some interest from other places, but it's never materialized, and AU has essentially priced him out of the market with his latest extension that pays him an average north of $6.5 million thru 2030. He's comfortable at AU and no one better is likely to pay him more unless someone gets desperate.I don't think a lot of those "better jobs" have been clamoring for Pearl over the last 9 years or so, because he is, at best, extremely damaged goods.
Said this many times on here, but BP’s god complex serves himself perfectly at auburn. He is the biggest name on campus there and the resurrector of their basketball program. It’s also a small town where everyone who sees him knows him and immediately will kiss his ass. Bruce is never leaving auburn, because it serves both his pocket book and his ego. That's kind of my point, though. 100% agree with this. and to his credit, he's done well! they're in the Dance every year, he got them to a Final Four, and Auburn is a bottom 3 SEC job (I'd say it's above Ole Miss and Georgia but below everyone else.)
Agree. Like my Florida buddy used to say in the early 90s, "eventually they will get it right in Athens", in football. They did and eventually they will get it right, in basketball. Too much talent, in metro Atlanta, not to succeed in both sports. Just have to get the right coach/recruiterI would put Georgia ahead of it because of the talent and population in the Atlanta area. If somebody ever gets it going there then they could sustain it.
Yeah he’s immortalized himself there. Can’t much blame him for wanting to stay, although the reasons probably border on nefarious, if not self serving.100% agree with this. and to his credit, he's done well! they're in the Dance every year, he got them to a Final Four, and Auburn is a bottom 3 SEC job (I'd say it's above Ole Miss and Georgia but below everyone else.)
I love how Duke fans are immediately glossing over us and assuming it will be a cakewalk until they get a rematch with Purdue.
The ACC sucks. Duke finished 2nd and Pitt finished 3rd. Pitt just barely snuck past Miss. State.
I don’t think Duke is any better than say, Kentucky. Which we struggled with UK this year. But Duke isn’t anything special is the point.
They are giving -7 last I saw in their first round game. We are giving -12
