At this point I’m very interested where Barnes takes this roster. We are probably an experienced guard and big away from being a top 20 team again next season.

I wonder what the timeline is going to be? 2 open spots to fill. 4 seniors to announce whether or not they’ll be back for a fifth year. Phillips to decide if he’ll transfer. I think he’ll probably do the evaluation by the NBA scenario. Whether anybody else decides to get into the portal.

Look at Kansas State, basically a roster full of transfers, on the brink of their first ever final four with a first year coach. I sincerely hope Coach Barnes has success in the transfer market this offseason.

It’s still early on with the massive disruption of NIL and free transfers. I am glad that TN has an experienced coach to maneuver through it all. He’s well connected and should be able to make some calls and get good intelligence on possible fits that are in the portal. But it might be time to start moving away from placing so much importance on chemistry and character. If that’s narrowing the pool to just a few, then it’s going to limit the available talent.

I am concerned though that there are no upperclassmen returning. It’s going to be ZZ, JA, and JM’s team next year.

True, I personally wouldn’t trade where we have been for the past 7+ seasons with Barnes. He has us in the best position arguably in program history and relevant year in and year out. Here’s an interesting question, would you rather have one more season of JJJ or one season of someone like Girard from Syracuse who averaged over 16 points and 38% from 3 this past season.

I’d take JJJ and keep my fingers crossed that he’d be able to get through an entire season healthy. JJJ and ZZ are tight, so that’s a plus as far as having strong leadership from within the roster.

I think that even though TN had 5 seniors, it was a bit different because 3 were foreign and Key was new. Also, JJJ was very quiet when he arrived. He more or less developed into a leader rather than having a natural inclination.

Barnes really needs to adjust to having the core only be here for a year or two and occasionally three. 4 year players are going to be the exception and they might be very limited in some aspects.

Lady Vols are letting their opportunity slip away. VA Tech takes a 35-22 lead into the half.

LV’s are mirroring the men. Sweet 16 and getting bounced.

I think this is the first time ive ever agreed with you.

Just my 2 cents, but I dont think much of anything changes unless we put a bigger emphasis on the offensive side of the ball. Top 30 ish defense is fine if you can score the ball. Theres no reason to waste all the energy we do to be a top 5 defense.

To add to the above convo ^

I think the one and done formula of college basketball is pretty much done with a few exceptions. You have to have the right mix of returning players with a few transfers and 1-2 freshmen. Hopefully we can fill some holes in the next few months with the right transfers.

I was checking in on the Lady Vols score on ESPN’s website and I noticed that LSU is a #3 seed in this tournament….at 31-2. 2 losses! And they are a 3-seed. That seems wild. I don’t watch much (really any) WBB, but how does someone go 31-2 in the SEC of all conferences and get a #3-seed?

Gonna be honest. If JJJ is letting what fans/media say get to him that much, maybe he just isn’t cut out for the SEC. People are gonna criticize you no matter how good you are. Part of playing this level of basketball is being able to tune it out and not let if affect you, which he and this team were clearly very bad at.

He was an integral part of a 27-win team that won the SEC tournament and a 25-win team that beat a surging Duke en route to a Sweet Sixteen. His expressing his displeasure with the trash "fans" have posted about this team on social media doesn't negate what he accomplished here (and what he accomplished here is far more than what any of those "fans" will ever achieve on a basketball court).

Random, did some research Santi is at 282 all time three pointers. That is in 3 and half years. If he actually decides to comeback. There is very serious chance he can get to be second all time in 3 pointers in the SEC.

This has been a really good post season for Conferences USA.

Charlotte won the CBI
UAB and North Texas are in The NIT Final 4
FAU is in The NCAA Tournament Final 4.

Remember the posts from our fans when that Florida kid concussed Fulkerson two years ago?

This is almost to a tee the same exact play. I said in another thread and I’ll say it again. I hope Uros transfers somewhere else

This was not the same kind of contact as Fulkerson’s injury. Uros hits Goldin below the neck in the upper chest. Fulkerson was hit above the shoulders first (but that wasn’t his injury) and then the UF player purposely cocked his elbow back and made contact a second time. That took Fulky down.

I get why it was called on Uros, and I agree that he has to be better. But Goldin was flopping most of the night. The offensive foul on Aidoo was atrocious. College officials have to do better jobs at seeing flops. Filipowski was similar. On Uros’ hard box out where he was assessed a foul, you can see Filipowski brace himself, stay on his two feet after contact, and then a split second later catapults down to the floor. Proctor did the same on the SV call where the official was in horrible position. Uros has that rep though, and they are looking for it.

If college basketball turns into soccer, I’m out. I was an official, I would get both coaches together before each game and tell them that I expect the game to be played correctly. If there is any unusual type flopping, then it’s going to be called.

Making the S16 without ZZ given this team's struggles on offense was a great achievement. Losing the way we did to FAU was very frustrating and emblematic of this team's affinity to be inconsistent.

CRB and his staff deserve praise for beating Duke to get us into the S16 but, man, they were abysmal against FAU. CRB has to better in that game with that E8 opportunity - period.

Our seniors had to be better - period. I have rooted hard for this team and they came close to making UT history as only the 2nd team to make an E8 despite the adversity they faced but they could not deliver against a good and very dangerous team.
