Just as long as he doesn’t go full Tony Harris and try to do it sitting out that game.
Want to agree with that last part cause I love Barnes, especially now. But imo TH needed the freedom to create, pull at any time and possibly shoot his team out of games, to be what we remember how good he could have been, if that makes any sense. A Texas Barnes possibly, but a UT Barnes has felt more constrictive than what I remember his Texas’ squads pgs being. It’s sad that TH was such a good player, a 4-year starter, and was possibly the best point guard that UT had ever signed at that point and his balled up fist move was our most vivid memory of his career. I think he also traded baskets with Chris Jackson (which I’m pretty sure we lost), but he was pretty quiet in his (and Drunkle Jerry’s) 7x NCAAT games.
Tony Harris and Michael Brooks would have been a lethal, all-time Memphis backcourt on offense. Brooks tended to get abused when playing defense though.
Imagine Tony Harris’s talent being managed by Barnes instead of Jerry F’ng Green.
If you're referring to Chris Jackson of LSU, he came about 10 years before Tony Harris. Allan Houston was the one to trade baskets with him. You are correct that we lost that game 119-113 in 1990. Jackson had 49, Houston had 43.It’s sad that TH was such a good player, a 4-year starter, and was possibly the best point guard that UT had ever signed at that point and his balled up fist move was our most vivid memory of his career. Yes, that was the first win in Lexington since 1979, and it clinched the SEC regular season title. That’s right. Brain fart. I think that Harris played pretty well versus LSU. Maybe 2000 when both were ranked, single digit loss teams and UT won at the Maravich Center.
TH was also on the team that won in Lexington in 1999 after a long drought. But, as good as he was, he just didn’t have many memorable games. The balled up fist game racing off the bench in his street clothes, unfortunately was.
Last I saw I think he’s been doing good things with his life. Helping kids with theirs.

I do agree that he's better remembered for his off-court incidents than his on-court play. The gun incident, the fight while his ankle was too "hurt" to play but healthy enough to run the length of the court to mix it up, etc.
And last I heard, you're correct...he's using his platform to help kids in the Memphis area, IIRC.
It's not like that 76 win hasn't been discussed in the the forum. That was the game Grunfeld had 43 and King made one from the floor on his backI knew that UT had the 2nd win over KY at Rupp (Utah was the first), but I didn’t realize that Ernie and Bernie also own the LAST win over KY in Memorial in 1976. KY was 11-1 in 1975-76 at Memorial Coliseum. I also just now learned that there were 3 Memorial Coliseums in the SEC in 1976. KY, Bama, and Barn.

Yes, apparently Grunfeld shot for someone else. It’s also the Grunfeld free throw scandal game.

There was also the karate defense game. I forget if KY was accusing UT of rough play or vice versa.
Listened to John Ward's call of that game. He almost choked on-air when Grunfeld went to the FT line. He knew that Ernie G. was "gaming" Joe B. Hall & the Kitties. Great gamesmanship, & the officials were totally confused.I knew that UT had the 2nd win over KY at Rupp (Utah was the first), but I didn’t realize that Ernie and Bernie also own the LAST win over KY in Memorial in 1976.
