Hope Bishop, Felix, Mashack and rest of the guys got some rest and recovery in and are 100%. If everyone is healthy we'll only have 9 scholarship players...the good news is 12 games are in the books, but that's still a short bench for 20+ to finish the season. Not impossible, but missing 4 additional scholarship players just makes it harder to get good practice reps in.

It will have one benefit though, individual work will have a bit more focus with less bodies to work with.

Barnes loves the game of basketball, and pursuing excellence in it. That's not going to change.

Barnes loves working with and investing in the players, on and beyond the basketball court. Roster chaos as an ongoing pattern in college ball could ruin that aspect for Barnes. I could see him investing his life elsewhere if that became the case.

He has said multiple times he likes winning and enjoys winning and coaching good teams, he doesn’t pay attention to what others are doing or media polls and analytics projections preseason. So I could absolutely see him getting a roster, walking into the gym come July/August when practice starts up and looking around and realizing he’s got a team that he doesn’t think can cut the nets, and he’ll walk away.

Not saying that’s what will happen or what he’s told anyone, I could just see that scenario unfolding.

Ty just disagree. At the very least, White will know ahead of time. Imo

Edit… it just occurred to me Bennett may have too, and that was still their hire.

Barnes has said multiple times he’s always hears not to make that decision right after the season ends because of the emotion running either way. He’s also stated that he’ll hang it up when he stops looking forward to walking into practice and workouts, those things just line up most with a decision likely coming somewhere around summer time rather than right when a season ends. I don’t think he’s the type to make a decision and say he’s not enjoying himself and then still gut out another 6-9 months of a season to do a farewell tour.

I agree with the sentiment that Barnes most likely pulls a Tony Bennett whenever he does decide to hang it up.

If it does happen the main reason I’ll be dissapointed is that it’ll likely stop Danny white from being able to hire someone until after the season. Obviously gainey will be the interim, and if he does well or decent I’m sure they’ll be a good contingent wanting to just go with him. I’ll be interested to see what DW does if it comes to that.

But Danny white has proven that if you give him the chance to hire a basketball coach, odds are he’s gonna pluck some obsure coach that’ll end up being a home run hire. I just hope DW gets the chance

Curious if Barnes and White have enough of a relationship to work together a few years ahead of his decision to try and bring someone in to prepare for "next in line". Not sure if something like that is even possible at a historically non-Blue Blood program.

I know he hurt a hand or finger last game against MTSU. Had a wrap on it today, hopefully that’s all it is

His finger still taped today so guessing he sprained it or has slight fracture that just playing through pain.

He only played 17 minutes, so they did get him some rest. Wonder if that finger is still the issue

With the football season over and conference play starting, I expect a big migration of people who only post in here to be negative. Please somebody do a PSA that the SEC is historically good, that we will lose some games to teams ranked lower than us, and that that doesn’t mean we suck or that Barnes should be fired or whatever

Yep, 18 games…will be pretty happy if we go 12-6 in SEC play, more would be amazing.

"We just are not that good"
"Won't make it after the 1st weekend"
"RB doesn't have it any more"
" The season is over. On to baseball"

I'm sure I'm leaving some out 😆

“Ain’t look like no #1 team to me. Bruce got a real #1 team down on the plains. Never should have fired him. Bring back Bruce. He misses us.”
