Honestly and no offense intended, I don't really care about those kinds of records if it ends up like so many of these "super teams" who've gotten the #1 seeds. I want Omaha and a legit shot at taking the brass ring. Just that chance. Means far more than a trivia stat if the team flames out and doesn't reach Omaha. Just get everyone healthy, win the SEC regular season then turn our attention to Omaha. Everything else means little to nothing to me.This probably killed our chances at best record of all time. What a pathetic showing.
Don't let it take over your whole day. Pack all that up in a bag and throw it in the closet. Take it out later if you need to feel mad, but otherwise let today be today, and I hope it's a great one!I'm still mad! Didn't sleep, horrible day at work, daughter pissed me off, then that game = bad mood today
unfortunately agree...exposed... here goes...Ivexsaid it GeForce n ill reiterate it....this team can't seem to bunt runners into scoring positions, or bunt very well while leaving16 or more runners on base tonight..something to ponder...its been a fun, lovely regular season watching balls launch out of the park. Been easy to forget that bunting is a vital part of the game when hitting alot of home runs during the season but I'm telling you the game always comes down to being able to execute bunting and proper base running when in a close game....I love to watch the long ball go out of the park but a team must have a short game as well...swinging for the fence, then fussing and walking to the dugout...looks ugly...what if coach does this when a team is having an off night hitting...bunt left, right, sacrifices, try too steal second base, use the ole squeeze play...where was that strategy forgotten? So so spoiled by the long ball...imo id have the team take pepper before every game the rest of the season and start bunting during remaining games occasionally to learn how for the regionals, otherwise get ready to be a spectator during Omaha...and brag about how many HR was hit in 2022 as "the bunt" is the difference in winning/losing a one run ballgame or using when a team is not hitting...you must try something else besides swinging then sitting down in dugout batter after batter....anyway just my opinion and thanks guys for such a great time this year watching as a Vols fan....darn it the long ball has spoiled me too!!
That's the game. It happens. Just hope we're getting it out of our systems now and not in the tournament. One of the more interesting tidbits from last night: Jorel Ortega’s single in the 11th broke a stretch of 31 consecutive appearances at the plate without a hit for the Vols, as reported by Mike Wilson. Pretty insane stuff for this group of players.
Vols gave up 12 hits last night, as well as 22 hits from Auburn last weekend. Pitching is still good, but they are not locking down teams like they were a few weeks ago.On a positive, our defense has been excellent and our pitching remains stellar. The lack of carry looked like UK was following MLB’s lead with humidors and baseballs with raised seams. several rockets dropped like a rock.
They definitely weren’t doing it on purpose. They were 12th in the SEC in walks allowed coming into this game. It’s just what they do. It seems their coach probably has the philosophy of nibbling the corners and don’t give up the long ball. If you happen to walk someone then that’s better than giving up a home run. It’s comparable to a power running football team playing against a team with a great QB. If you can keep the QB over on the sidelines then that increases your chances of keeping the game close to potentially win. Our guys will adjust Game 2 and I think we see a much better offensive performance. Not even sure KY was inconsistent on purpose but we were definitely off balance all night.
