The Official #1 Tennessee vs GA Tech Regional Game Thread Sunday June 5th (7PM EST ESPNU)

And this thinking like this is exactly why we have fans throwing mustard bottles and golf balls. All Im saying is running bases with your middle finger up is a little much.

This is far from mustard bottles and golf balls. I wouldn’t do it but I’m not going to complain about Beck. It’s ok to play with emotion.

I’m assuming by your name you are an Al Wilson fan. Forgive me if I assume wrongly. He’s my all time favorite Vol football player, and he said far worse on the field than Beck flipping a bird.

Third definitely. Second? Not so much.
in the situation as it was then, the correct play was to first base, and without hesitation. Cortland is losing confidence in his throw to first base. He hesitated on the throw. It nearly cost us the game. So did the throw on which GT scored their first two runs. I hope he takes a lot of ground balls and throws to first this week to get it straightened out. We can't win a super regional if our shortstop can't make good throws to first base.

If we suspend a player in the post-season for simply flipping the bird, I have lost all faith in this world. How freaking soft that would be. Grow some thicker skin if that hurts your feelings. Ain’t no crying in baseball.
Didn't we have a football player do it? They better not suspend Beck.

He hesitated because he looked at second and Jorel was not there.

Hmmmm......

Just a quick question....

How many of y'all laugh or feel a tinge of pride every time someone on Volnation posts the pic of Gaulden throwing the double bird to the whole state of Alabama?

How 'bout those among us who post and otherwise revel in WGWTFA?

Uh huh. If that's you, all y'all can shut up about Beck's bird. Hypocrites.

I'm a Christian. I don't like what Beck did, but it's over. But I got a collection of stones over here if any of you sinless folk wanna borrow some.

Missed most of the game working. Sounds like some struggles on offense and defense. Take always?

Im sure he has, lots of things get said on field between competitors its a whole different ball game when everyone in the country including small kids see someone do that.... Im not going to argue ignore me it wouldnt hurt my feelings. Do you think the same actions are acceptable in MLB ? Cause im pretty sure that would turn into a big fine. I am glad we won, I am glad they have this emotional edge... However the middle finger was a little bit excessive. I don't think he should be suspended for it. But you never know when the SEC or NCAA is going to say enough. THAT hurts the team or has the potential to do so.

Beck should likely issue an apology for the behavior. Those kids they all love to be around see this stuff and they are better young men than that. I don't mind the Daddy hat, fur cleats and fur coats but we lose our self awareness sometimes with these guys just being young cocky athletes. I don't feel a suspension is warranted but truly have some class and set an example for the young uns that are watching.

Agree. My twins are 19 but I think about how my son emulated athletes on the football field or 🏀 court. I. I coached for yrs and always had rules about behavior. This is a different level but little kids view these athletes as role models, whether parents like it or not.

Go Vols!

It was a weird game. Paul Bunyon (Zach Maxwell) had electric stuff for Tech. Hit triple digits all night for 6 innings and we were fooled by his slider. No earned runs on him and not a single barreled baseball.

Cortland had his worst game of the season. 3 of their 6 runs were unearned due to Cortland’s 3 errors. But, survive and advance. This team doesn’t quit and when we got Big Boy out of the game our offense came alive.

Biggest takeaway is that college umpires are still trash.
