The Official #1 Tennessee vs GA Tech Regional Game Thread Sunday June 5th (7PM EST ESPNU)

This the attitude that makes me hate being associated with you guys.

Hmmmm. Don't normally base that play to 3rd because the runner is usually already moving with a lead... Hard out at 3rd.
I agree normally. But if you watch it again, he held up a long time bc of the line Drive. He would have had him by 3 steps.

But it's easy for me to sit here watching on TV and see that compared to him being in the heat of the moment with the pressure, he has to make a decision and probably didn't even notice the runner had hesitated.

Nice observation to you too. Baseball is all about prep before the pitch.

If we suspend a player in the post-season for simply flipping the bird, I have lost all faith in this world. How freaking soft that would be. Grow some thicker skin if that hurts your feelings. Ain’t no crying in baseball.

He shouldn't get suspended but as a veteran player on the #1 team you gotta be bigger than that.

Interesting observation. I didn't see that reply or notice it. I always like getting the lead runner. Hmmm

In this screenshot, he’s just starting to make his throw. You can see just how much time he has to get the runner going to 3rd.

Yeah he actually had more time to throw to 3B than I even thought in real time

But he is taught in that situation that the runner going to third is meaningless. He's taught to get the sure out at first base. I'm guessing he gave no thought whatsoever to the runner moving to third, as he is taught. If Ortega wasn't covering for whatever reason, that cinches it. Get the sure out at first. Getting at least one out is way more important than getting the runner at third or even at second. Those runs mean nothing in that situation. It's situational baseball.

Good grief! How hard is it to enjoy something without finding something to gripe about? They are college kids. We all did things at 18-21 years of age we probably wouldn’t do now. Get over it and be happy for the win.
“be happy for the win.” lol. What a mindset.
