The Official #1 Tennessee vs Kentucky SEC Tourney Game Thread (Saturday Time TBD EST SEC Network)

We are visitors. Stupid. Comes with the everybody gets a trophy mentality.
Yep, 1 seed Arkansas was the road team in the semis and finals last tournament. It makes zero sense to not reward the 1 seed with home field throughout the tournament. SEC = Idiocracy

Has this tournament always been set up this way? Single-Double-Single? I don't recall that.

As far as a normal 12 team double elimination tournament, It should have 23 games total, which includes the if-necessary game, if the team that comes from losers bracket beats the lone unbeaten team in the finals.

23 games starting on Tuesday would need 4 games per day to be played on Tue-Sat, then 2 or 3 on Sunday. If you do that and you only have the one field at your disposal, the first game should start at 9am every day. Just some thoughts from a tournament director from days gone by.

I'd be fine if they stuck to single elimination. Or make it all the way double elimination but cut it down to 10 teams make the SECT.

Not sure how else it could go unless they made the semis and finals a series
They need to trim it to 10 teams instead of 12 teams. They did an 8-team double elimination tournament for years whenever we had 12 teams in the conference. 7-10 should be a play-in and the 8 remaining teams play double elimination. Easy fix.

That would be perfect. 10 teams = 18-19 games for a true double elim over 6 days which is very doable and eliminate the totally screwed up single-double-single elim format they are using now.
