I may be on my own here but I think the setup of this tournament is pretty silly. Between the single elimination to double back to single and the fact that UT as the #1 seed is ever the visiting team makes zero sense to me.

How is this even possible? I have never seen in any tournament format where the team in the winner’s bracket is the away team against the team coming out of the loser’s bracket. SEC is terrible.

I could not agree more. How unfair to the #1 seed to make them the away team in a single elimination game after NOT losing any in the double elimination round. Participation trophy mentality. You play a regular season for a reason. How do you give Kentucky that advantage? It’s just so dumb, I’ll never get over it no matter how many tournaments I watch. I’ll still be complaining about this in 20 years lol.

Has this tournament always been set up this way? Single-Double-Single? I don't recall that.

As far as a normal 12 team double elimination tournament, It should have 23 games total, which includes the if-necessary game, if the team that comes from losers bracket beats the lone unbeaten team in the finals.

23 games starting on Tuesday would need 4 games per day to be played on Tue-Sat, then 2 or 3 on Sunday. If you do that and you only have the one field at your disposal, the first game should start at 9am every day. Just some thoughts from a tournament director from days gone by.

I just hope they take the balls and walk to first. Trying to hit dingers when they are afraid to throw you a strike cost us in Lexington . Do you remember all those terrible pitches they were swinging on ?

Yeah I remember that first game, we walked 12 times but also struck out like 15 times to cancel it out. It was one of the weirdest and most oxymoronic stat lines I could ever recall.
