The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

I’m sure it’s been said many times before, but that home plate ump was pathetic. Throw a kid out for arguing balls/strikes with his back to you is SOFT. Doubt it would’ve changed the outcome of tonight’s game, just hope it doesn’t impact the result of tomorrows game and end up sending Gilbert out while he’s watching from the bench tomorrow. Grow some thicker skin or pick a different career

I wouldn’t say an embarrassment. Concerning? Yes, but not embarrassing.
We got outplayed by a team that had a case to be hosting, it happpens. Let’s wait until tomorrow or even Sunday, before we get too carried away.
I feel you rider, this one hurt, but I’m not going to count this team out yet.
GBO!!

You can’t argue with folks with that mentality. This team and this season will NEVER be an embarrassment.

Well that's what you get from ticket holders selling all yr and no care till now ..and true fans locked out ....🤷‍♂️
It’s what you get when UT doubled prices and catered to a different subset of fans. As a players dad told me last weekend, “they raised prices, raised the avg age of attendance by 20 yrs and killed the environment”. Last weekend was nothing like last years regional. I can’t speak for tonight as I was unable to make it but last years Super was absolutely electric and insane.

Brand’s don’t exist within isolated events. They’re shaped over time. Our brand is stronger than ever. There’s a reason TN is just now committing resources to baseball in the SEC.
Exactly. We are on our way to being a legit baseball program, not just a team that makes a little noise from time to time.
GBO!!

I didn’t post throughout the game because I was out with friends watching the game. All I have to say is that home plate “umpire” should be ashamed of himself. Inconsistent for both teams and nobody had a true strike zone. Countless pitches veering towards the other batters box that were called strikes but were clearly balls and whenever he gets called out on it he gets in his feelings. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again. I cannot wait until robo umps are the primary ball/strike decision maker. Umpires have had too much authority and let emotions get in the way of their judgement. It’s a shame they insert themselves into the game. I apologize to those that umpire on this board but the game of baseball would be better off without it. At least with the K Zone, there is something objective and takes the guesswork out of the game. What we currently have is a bunch of middle aged dudes that are jealous they never made it big time and try to take over the game.

Lawson needs to be out of the lineup if we have someone even half decent who can serve in his place. Don’t care if he’s a good batter we got plenty of those. His play on defense has been going down hill end of season. At this point he’s a liability.

We got outplayed and out scouted tonight.
We were unlucky and had a few bounces go against us.
I’m really intrigued by the whole notion that ND knew our pitches. They knew what was coming from Blade and Will, it seemed. I think Joyce just overpowered them and I also think that’s why we saw Wyatt. ND didn’t have a great scout on him.
In hindsight, I wish we had started Joyce.
We have to get to their ace early tomorrow and we have to be patient at the plate and not press.
Tonight was the first time all season, that I saw a bit of doubt in our guys. Something seemed off tonight? Whether they were too tight, too loose, I don’t know.
Let’s take game 2 and send this thing to sudden death!
GBO!!

I’m not surprised by Norte Dame’s scout on us. They are known for their preparation and detail. That’s why they are so challenging.

Well, you have to win one before you win two. Nothing today will affect tomorrow unless we allow it to do so. Come out focused on winning Saturday. Just saturday. This game is like this and it is why it is the best game going. Buck fellas and ladies. The Vols will be right back at it tomorrow.

ND will be loose tmrw. Need to bring our A game. If we do we win. If we win, big money on us advancing. Calling tmrw 5-3 Vols. Game 3 12-5 Vols.

Brands can absolutely be damaged by a single negative event. Ask the Ford Pinto, Tylenol, or Firestone tires. We have a strong brand, but we’ve been running it into the rails the last couple of weeks. We don’t need to have players and coaches ejected, flip off opponents or throw fits. We can do better.

I know. I know. But still, people aren’t hating on us for no reason… and spare me the “they don’t respect the game” Twitter comments. People hate winners when it’s not their team.

I hate people who whine about not "respecting the game"? What does that even mean? I'm for anyone adding emotion and flavor to a sport that has been run like a freakin' weird cult or religion way too long, one that fans have been turning away from for decades. All the stupid unwritten rules and crybaby snowflakes when someone acts like they don't like, and blah blah blah.

I love the bat flips, the dances, the hand gestures, the trash talk. It's like they're actually enjoying playing A GAME.

This I agree with

We will break through hopefully tomorrow, but we can’t Continue to leave runners in base. Still yet, we made a game out of it

Just have to leave this in TV’s hands. I just hope if they focus on anything, it’s the fun of playing the game. They’re wound too tight.

I’m so torn on this issue. Part of me thinks it’s a good idea but part of me doesn’t want to see the human element taken out of the game. I kinda feel like that’s what makes baseball, baseball.
But I get your point, because it can be very frustrating!
GBO!!
