After watching Tim Corbin cost Kumar Rocker $20+ million in up-front money, one would think that all the good Vandy pitchers will be in the transfer portal. Tim treats the arms like they are rented mules.
Vanderbilt baseball right-hander Christian Little has entered the transfer portal, according to reports from
Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball and
Brian Sakowski of Perfect Game.
Little, a top recruit in the class of 2021,
reclassified and joined the Commodores early for the 2021 season. He spent his freshman season primarily as the midweek starter but started three games in the postseason, and he worked mostly out of the bullpen in his sophomore season.
In 2022, Little compiled a 1-2 record with a 3.72 ERA and three saves in three starts and 15 relief appearances.
Vanderbilt is coming off a disappointing season, finishing with its first losing SEC record since 2009 and losing in the NCAA regionals for the first time since 2016. Little started the final game, a loss to Oregon State, and gave up one run in three innings, receiving a no-decision.
Losing Little is a blow to Vanderbilt's pitching staff. He was a top candidate to become a weekend starter in 2023, along with incoming sophomores and returning starters Carter Holton, Devin Futrell and Bryce Cunningham. Little, who was the youngest player on the team in 2021 and 2022, will be draft eligible in 2023 and is a potential first-round pick.
Baseball players have until July 1 to enter their names in the transfer portal and be immediately eligible at their next stop.
