The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

Lotta good points. They are one of the more balanced teams we’ve faced. Good pitching, good fielding, good hitters and very effective base running.

We are coming in to this series with a less than it has been starting rotation. The two freshmen seem to have hit the freshman wall and are being protected and closely managed. Dolly threw a rare clunker the other day. Blade seems to be back on his best form, but the other three trouble me, espcially the two freshmen.

Our bats are working well, though.

Has anything been said about Trey Lipscomb's hand that was hit yesterday? I know he went back and played 3rd, just wondering if there was a report. I hope it doesn't swell and get worse.
My gut feeling is that he put on a pretty good acting job. I think it hit above the wrap on the bat and he played it off pretty well. Watching the replay, that was my initial response.
When CTV walked up Jeff Wood said something and Trey kind of shrugged and JW and CTV both went to the dugout, almost immediately. When Trey was on base he never even looked at his hand again or even acted like it was hurting.
I could certainly be wrong. But, it appeared to be an acting job that worked in our favor.

I totally understand where yer coming from. Something I’ve been pondering. The whole schedule at Hoover got blown up. Playing at all hours of the day and night, and just like this past week you have elimination games, rather than a best of 3 series. I’m hoping Beam, Burns and Dolly get back into their normal routine for Supers.

That may not have a thing to do with it, but…

GBO!!!

Yep, but the super is a best of three, so only three can start anyway. I'm guessing we go with Blade, then Dolly, then Beam or Sewell, with Burns and the other of Beam and Sewell held in reserve to help anyone who gets into early trouble. Hopefully, we'll beat them in two and not have to worry about it. But when we get to Omaha, we're gonna need them all.

Yep, that was the gist, we move to best of 3 in the Supers, more like your average old SEC weekend. I totally agree about Omaha, all hands on deck, depth is our calling card.

GBO!!!

I actually think the rotation this weekend will be Tidwell, Dollander, and Burns. It’s a series, so it’s a bit more of a normal schedule, and you pitch your best at this point. Beam has had some control issues lately. All 3 of Tidwell/Dolly/Burns have elite velocity and swing and miss stuff. It’s literally a major league rotation.

No need to worry about the pitching. It's a lot of things - total innings, better hitters/hotter hitters, higher stakes, added pressure, etc. I wouldn't worry about our guys, we're fortunate to be able to hit when we don't pitch well, but our guys will step up. A good outing will go a long way and I expect to see some good ones from our boys after a not so (pitching) dominant regional. You'll see.

Agreed. Pitch your elite stuff. Beam will be (and has been) great for us next year, but I think atm he's a step behind those 3.

We're playing a much better level of competition this time of year. I think our pitchers are throwing pretty well, the competition has just ramped up several notches.

Burns has become slider happy and needs to relax and not over throw the fastball. It has flattened out a bit and have left the yard a little but just needs to let it loose again.

So if we are fortunate enough to make it to Omaha, our bracket will potentially include the winners of these super regionals. Is it just me or does the other bracket seem less loaded? I highlighted the remaining top 8 national seeds.

ECU/Texas
A&M/Louisville
Virginia Tech/Oklahoma

Bracket 2 would include:

Stanford/UConn
UNC/Hogs
Southern Miss/Ole Miss
Oregon St/Auburn

Start Friday? Any of the supers start Thursday by chance
I believe you either get Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday. No games will start on Thursday due to regional finals being played on a Monday.

It looks like sticking us w tech would be horrible. Based off scores they look dominate on offense. If we don’t win it I expect they have the next best chance.
