The Official #11 Tennessee @ #25 Texas A&M Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

So Freddie is our main scorer next yr? Can he take it to the rim and score? Is he a theee ball shooter, too?

His knock is he isn’t overly athletic, but he is a shot maker. I’m not sure if he will be our main scorer. If JP returns and improves his shot, he should average 12-14+ points per game. We need Aidoo to be more consistent.

So to those who follow recruiting and please give an honest answer. Based on what you’ve seen, do we have any income freshmen that will make an immediate impact for our offense? I assume ZZ and Phillips return, not 100% sure of Phillips. I won’t comment in for sure about a Phillips and Edwards as I’m not sure of their plans.
DJ Jefferson, a redshirt is a top 50 recruit. Dilione and Estrella are top 50 recruits, this year. Cade Phillips is a top 100 recruit. All high 4 stars, Dilione probably would have been a borderline 5 star if he had not enrolled in January. I expect Dilione, Estrella and Jefferson to all play a lot, next year

This is going to be the team that makes the F4 so get all your griping out now.

Really does feel like this school is due to get one of those Final Four berths after limping through January/February like so many programs have. Get Phillips/JJJ back, string together a few good wins and have some lucky breaks with seeding, somehow wind up in Houston after this gross month.

Jefferson and Dilione, probably.

However, Estrella will be behind Aidoo & Awaka.

He definitely needs to add more weight, especially going up against SEC players but he’s probably the most skilled out of all of them.

Too many free throws for Texas A&M tonight and we were getting some paint points tonight but once again took way too many three point shots instead of working it down consistently to Awaka and Nkamhoua who both had solid performances tonight.

i just hope we have someone w soeed in the court next yr who can attack the rim and give us 15 a nt. I’d also love a loose man who can take over

Jefferson is interesting. My understanding of him is he played in the post a lot in high school and came in with pretty raw guard skills which is why the decision to RS him was made early on. Will be interesting to see where he is from a development perspective.

Vescovi wouldn’t start for most D1 schools and his stats barely crack the top 250 players in D1 basketball but he is the second best shooter in UT history? Comical lol he is an average shooter on a terrible shooting team. Tennessee is 282nd in shooting percentage.

There isn’t a team in college basketball that wouldn’t love to have Vescovi.

Yes, but ON and Uros are gone, so Estrella could play his way into playing time. I love the 🦒, but Estrella is probably already a more skilled offensive player than him and definitely Awaka. Estrella did pick us over Duke, but so did JJJ, so take it fwiw

Does anyone think our love for the 3 has any effect on our ability to land excellent post players? I’m looking forward to watching JP Estrella.
Think of how few people there are who are 7 feet tall. I bet you’ve never seen one in real life outside of a basketball game. The CDC estimates there are 2800 in the entire world. About 5% of the world population lives in America. So we probably have 300 or so of those people at most. And they don’t all play basketball. And out of those who do, they’re not all high major talent. Part of the reason it’s tough to get great big men is because, well, there just aren’t as many of them to go around as there are guards.

Best athlete on the team, imo. Kinda like Mashack with more offensive skills. Probably not as good on defense, yet. But, could be with that athleticism

You might think about locking yourself in the bathroom with your two sled dog brides if you think Key is the better point. We lost a tough game on the road with two starters hurt.
We Barnes must have thought he was better because he was starting up until the Tx game so you will have to take that up with Barnes

Ya know what you're all wrong, I'm right, I own Volnation, my tailgates are wilder and I am smarter than you all. Except maybe Freak. This should be called OJJnation. Goodnight.

Time to circle the wagons, get healthy, and focus on the national tournament. It might be a good idea to start resting our starters much more during these last few meaningless games. That includes the conference tournament. I wouldn't be trying to win it, just keep the team healthy and rested for the ncaas.
