The Official #13 Tennessee vs. Texas Tech Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

We have a difficult schedule. Despite the returning players we have, we’ve basically turned it over to a freshman, we have a lot of room for improvement. Our next 8 games are more pivotal than the first 8. Have plenty of opportunity to turn it around. We shoot 25% from 3 and we win that game.

Plenty of open shots missed.

Why is VBJ barely playing one game then we don’t even see Powell the next? Rotations this season have been bizarre. Obviously we are all possibly overreacting, but damn that was one of the worst games I’ve ever seen.

We had the 3rd best 3pt% in the SEC. We are not a bad perimeter shooting team. We just had a unbelievably bad game tonight.

I don’t know, are we sure this is true?

8 games. 4 of the final 3-point percentages as follows:

18% 24% 26% 15%

What suggests we’re actually a good 3-point shooting team? Stats no longer say that we are. We can’t just say “one bad shooting night.” It’s not just one night.

Why are you leaving out the other games? Lol called averages for a reason.

Let’s see where we are come middle of January. Still too small of a sample size either way.

ESPN showed 36% and 3rd in SEC.

We shot nearly 50% against UNC.

3rd in SEC from deep before this game…stats don’t lie.

What we need is inside scoring, so when we have cold nights from deep we can pound it inside and still get buckets. Our best teams under Barnes were playing inside out & having guards who could penetrate. We just need that inside threat to emerge.
Sadly our best teams under Barnes couldn't get past Loyola or Purdue.

Because through 8 games, half of our games we’ve shot 26% or less. How can you say we’re a good team when half of the time we’re making 1 of every 4 shots…..or worse.

This wasn't defense related. We missed wide open shots all night long. Lay ups, free throws, nothing went in.
And dunks! JJJ missed two dunks (1 blocked & one inexcusable).
My biggest concern is we are 11-68 3-pt fg against the top two teams we've played. Maybe we aren't ready for the big stage just yet.
I do agree that it was puzzling not seeing Powell out there. What is the worse thing he could have done, missed a shot?
Get this figured out before March and that's all that matters.
Go Vols!!

As long as we fight every game and put in effort I will deal with these ****** losses.

The Villanova loss was worse, that looked like a team that didn’t want to even play.

TTU will be a Quadrant 1 team, they have great length and a ton of experience (via transfers).

I think we were 11% (4-35) in regulation. If we go 5-35 we win. I can’t believe I just typed that. 5-35 and we win! 😂

That means BHH. Barnes isn't playing him. I guess there's a good reason for that. But until someone emerges, this lousy offense isn't going to go away.

I want BHH to turn into Ron ****ing Slay. Take the damn rim with you when a defender plays you soft inside.

Olivier & Fulk both are stretch 4s at best and neither has a reliable deep ball or can bang for rebounds.

In a lesser conference they’d feast.
