The Official #13 Tennessee vs. Texas Tech Game Thread, 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

Half of our missed threes were wide open. In todays game, you have to take them.

Chandler and ZZ had trouble with length, and Fulky missed a few around the rim. Even in a bad night, missed FT’s, missed threes, and a missed wide open dunk cost us the game.

Yeah, when I saw that schedule-- they haven't been home since Colorado. I'll take that excuse. Both teams were throwing bricks, but they were taller.
I guess we are the first team in history to play two straight road games. Yall had to dig deep into the excuse box to come up with this one.

We’re clearly cold from range, which will happen. Problem is not having someone who can get it down in the paint
I agree. We will have better shooting night from outside but the problem with post scoring is not gonna fix itself overnight.

I will say this game highlights my biggest gripe with Barnes.

Early in a season when we should be playing guys less minutes and getting more players experience he seems to favor his starters.

So later in the season we’re relying on depth with guys who got limited minutes.

Mashack & BHH barely on court. Low minutes for Olivier and Powell.

He basically stuck with KC, ZZ, Santi, JJJ, Fulk & Bailey.

If you are a bad perimeter shooting team - and we are, stats don't lie - and you don't have a dominant post game - and we don't - then relying on a half court inside to outside offensive game makes no sense to me. And if you are a poor free throw shooting team - and we are - that reveals a lack of player focus - and that reflects on coaching. I don't think it's too early to accept what we are seeing, what our eyes are telling us - We are once again a poor offensive team. Our offense is very easy to defend and have opponents aggressive defenses turn our offense over for easy transition baskets. This approach isn't working. So far, his offense is a failure. Barnes needs to adjust his approach to offense to suit his player's strengths and minimize their weaknesses.

I think I'm just going to have some ice cream tonight. That always makes things better to distract from real issues.

Unfortunately, It hasn't been just one game. I'm still hopeful we can have a good season. But the complaint with Barnes even going back to when he was at Texas was his gamely coaching and inability to perform in the tourney. We've underachieved in every NCAA tourney we've made it to. But like I said, I'm hopeful that if BHH is developed that will take some stress off of our shooting and give us another scoring option. Chandler doesn't have anyone reliable in the paint to pass it to right now.

BHH has to play to get developed.

I fee like we’ve had decent numbers in our rotation and minutes played the rest of the year, but was a little odd tonight that we shortened up the bench so much in the second half and OT I thought.

You pretty much know exactly how a game is going to go in the first 3 game minutes. If it’s 4-2 after the U16 you know this game isn’t going to be pretty. Or fun.

3rd in SEC from deep before this game…stats don’t lie.

What we need is inside scoring, so when we have cold nights from deep we can pound it inside and still get buckets. Our best teams under Barnes were playing inside out & having guards who could penetrate. We just need that inside threat to emerge.

We had the 3rd best 3pt% in the SEC. We are not a bad perimeter shooting team. We just had an unbelievably bad game tonight.
