The Official #15 Tennessee vs. Tennessee Tech Game Thread, 3:00 PM ET, SEC Network+

What hardware has Rick won at UT which is deserving of top 5 money? One sweet 16 NCAAT and 1 Tie for 1st in the SEC. Hmmmm So current ranking equates to salary??? nope not all....

Thats laughable
You know, there is probably a reason you have so many posts and so few likes. The only one who cares about your opinion in this thread is you. You are one of the grass is always greener goobs who are always looking for the black cloud behind every silver lining.

We have such a manic fan base. Been calling to run and shoot more 3’s for several seasons. This season we start doing so and now the players are disinterested or poorly coached when those open 3’s don’t fall. It’s the nature of playing the long ball game

I gave you a like for using “goobs!”
GBO!!

Who the heck is complaining about Vescovi? He posted a 13/7/7/3 stat line...WTF?
That’s about as solid as you can get!
🤪
GBO!!
Moving off the point has really helped him. He's in a comfortable spot now and it shows. Gotta say that while I'm thrilled with Chandler and ZZTop, if Barnes reaches HH and the light comes on for him, we're gonna have ourselves one helluva lot of fun this season. Guy has enormous potential.

No doubt. We need to sit back and let it unfold. It’s obvious Barnes is trying to figure out the rotation and what combinations work best together. This team has potential, we just have to hope Barnes can tap into it.

I liked how they started feeding BHH the ball on the blocks down the stretch as TN was finally pulling away. TT didn’t have an answer.

ABOUT TENNESSEE TECH

• Tennessee Tech is off to a 2-3 start through five games this season, having already faced three teams from the state of Tennessee—Memphis, Chattanooga and Lipscomb.
• Just under 50 percent of the Golden Eagles' scoring this season has come from three players—Keishawn Davidson (13.4 ppg), Mamoudou Diarra (12.2 ppg) and Jr. Clay (10.6 ppg).
• Clay, a Preseason All-OVC selection, was second in the OVC in scoring last season with a 17.3 points per game average. He ranks 17th in TTU program history with 1,300 career points.
• The Golden Eagles' 2021-22 roster features five newcomer transfers from Division I schools—Diante Wood (Jacksonville/Alabama), Daniel Ramsey (Xavier), Mamoudou Diarra (Cincinnati), Caleb Christopher (Arizona State), and John Pettway (South Alabama).
• Two of Tennessee Tech's four full-time coaches played basketball in the SEC—head coach John Pelphrey at Kentucky (1988-92) and assistant coach Andrew Steele (2008-13) at Alabama. The Golden Eagles' other two assistant coaches, Alex Fain and Blake Gray, served as student managers at Alabama before moving into full-time roles on the Crimson Tide's staff.
• Pelphrey also boasts a wealth of coaching experience in the SEC, having served as the head coach at Arkansas (2007-11), as well as an assistant coach at both Florida (1996-2002; 2011-15) and Alabama (2016-19).

Pelphrey will not be at Tennessee Tech very long.

I don’t know if he is experimenting with combinations so much as he is giving plenty of opportunities to win the last couple of spots. I’ve posted multiple times that 8 base players have all but been determined (KC. ZZZ, SV, JJJ, JP, BHH, ORN, and Fulk) and the next guard/wing and post spots are out there to be taken. Injuries and illnesses are already disrupting the rotation so right now lots of minutes are being shared by the next 4 (3 minus QD who hasn’t emerged) and Aidoo is hopefully about to join that mix. Tamba seems like he’s almost certainly going to be taking a redshirt. Bailey, Uros, Mashack, Aidoo, and QD are competing to fill out a shorter rotation. I don’t think that QD saw the floor today and Mashack wasn’t impressive after being pretty efficient in earlier games.

I think I saw some of the young guys step forward in the second half. If there was no other silver lining, I think this was one. BHH needs another game or two like this, before we see tougher competition again.

I get the feeling that BHH is kind of mirroring Admiral in that he wants to play away from the basket but he is needed near the basket. It worked out for Schofield once he bought in. He eventually was able to play outside and he developed post up skills that made his overall attack better.
