You’re right, but the teams we’ve lost to is what makes it sad. Blown out by a depleted Florida team, Ole miss, and now a blowout loss to LSU. I could live with losses to Alabama and Missouri, those are two good teams. Those other 3 are quite ugly though.

Pearl made his bed after a minor issue that nobody cared about and would have been back page news forgotten after the paper was in the trash. He didn't get fired for cheating. It was only a matter of time before he got stupid again because he was going to put himself in that position again.Pearl had broken a minor rule and got caught lying about it and to my knowledge did not have any enemies @ UT & the AD chose to not even consider fighting for their coach. I will go out on a limb and say that even if Pruitt had a .500 record this year and had not made any enemies @ UT the results would remain unchanged, those results being that the UTAD would bend over and take whatever the NCAA was giving . Now somewhere in the near future the AA may hammer LSU & Wade but the point I was making in my original statement is that currently the UTAD is no better or worse than LSU in cooperating with the AA -vs- telling them to get bent . I guess only time will tell.
My question is with 2 of the top 10 players...why are we barely hanging on as a top 5 team in the SEC?
You could probably add Walker to this list to, will he ever contribute or is he a bust? I know he was injured, but I remember seeing mention that he came in a little overweight and they arent sure if the work ethic will be there.Barnes infamous “year off” in recruiting is going to take a few years to fix. It’s okay to have one-and-done players, heck we all thought these two meant an E8 or F4 this year. But, when you have an entire recruiting class of Gaines, Pember, ORN, and mid-year enrollee Vescovi you have 3 guys soaking up scholarships that don’t seem like they’ll ever be much of a contributor. Combine those 3 with losing Pons and likely the 2 freshmen, it makes for a rough season in the interim until we can overhaul.
I might get crushed for saying this but we have 4 dead weight scholarships on this team right now—-Anosike, ORN, Pember, and Gaines. I don’t see any of those guys doing much more than chewing clock and giving us a few fouls so you have literally a 3rd of your roster next year giving you nothing.
EDIT: Add Plavsic to that list. So really you have 5 “projects” on the team that aren’t showing much promise for having an eventual payoff.

But I agree with you, you have to have some projects and 4 years guys and then sprinkle in the Elite 1 or 2 year guys, but it seems like Barnes has missed on all of his projects lately.
Another name I would add is Burns, where would this team be if he was still here and actually was somewhat what he was supposed to be?

Banchero was paid. That’s not Barnes fault.
Smith was a miss, I’ll admit.
I would have been happy with Cardwell but he’s not a game changer.
I understand all that, and you can probably infer that Smith got something going to Auburn. But I’m just discussing results as opposed to speculating. Add Jabari Smith next year and we are elite.
I didnt mean to write Walker off, just that him coming in and not contributing early isnt a good sign. The only talk ive heard about him was on the Basillio show a few weeks ago and all TB said was his sources told him that he wasnt ready whatever that means.Jury is still out on Walker. He was a Top-30 player in his class and a 5-star before his injury. Rumor is he is in the dog house with Rick, and that can be hard to get out of just like D.J. Burns. I think Walker is a complete unknown. He could be the next Grant Williams playing that stretch-4 type role or he could be a huge bust. I haven’t seen a single second of him on the court so who really knows.
I know Barnes is a great person, so he is unlikely to do so, but he really needs to have a heart to heart with guys like Pember, Gaines, and Anosike this off-season and tell them it might be best if they look elsewhere and that he will support an immediate approval if they transfer. Those scholarships can be much better used.
Right!!! We need an uptick in post player recruiting for two years before bringing Steve Forbes in from WF!!!Lets hope Coach Barnes comes back for 2021-2022 and doesn't throw everyone a curve ball and decide to retire!

Yeah I’m actually not trying to argue with you here, to me the NCAA never had any credibility to begin with . In my opinion the organization is a hypocritical paper tiger yet the UTAD seems to view them as a judge, jury & executioner . They may put the AU’s & the LSU’s of their world in their place one day and hand out major penalties but given the elapsed time between when the allegations were made and now I doubt it. AU imposed a post season ban in a year that they most likely would not have qualified for anyway. What Wade & LSU did was / is so unethical that LSU should have sh*t canned him regardless of what the AA has to say on the matter . IMO what Pearl did @ AU should also fall under that same category but Pearson took the fall. AU told the AA to pound sand & Pearl took AU to the final 4. That isn’t to say that it may not be vacated but as it stands it is still on the books as such and even if it us vacated the memory will not be removed from the players & fans .Pearl made his bed after a minor issue that nobody cared about and would have been back page news forgotten after the paper was in the trash. Had Wade been fired by LSU it would have been for evidence of a major issue rather than trying to cover it up. And there was plenty enough there to fire him.
None of the 3 are the same. Whether the AA goes after Wade or not or what they do about Pruitt isnt relevant to me from that idea. They have lost all credibility in how they deal with issues. Minor and major. But that still doesn't change my opinion on LSU or Wade.
