The Official #18 Tennessee @ Texas Game Thread, 8:00 PM ET, ESPN

Disappointing loss for sure. Lots of self inflicted mistakes, but those of you acting like this is an embarrassing loss are just crazy. Texas is a solid team.

It was an embarrassing look, like the game vs Texas Tech. We spent 36 minutes looking like we'd never shot a basketball before.

The first 35 minutes were bad, stupid foul right before half comes back. People criticizing Barnes for last shot took by James instead of Vescovi but on previous possession Vescovi had a great look and missed and was off tonight and James had made a few. We need to press more IMO it gets our offense jump started. KC will go pro but next year he will be with Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer in the G league , he is not ready IMO. Win or Lose ,GBO.

I think it’s going to be a lot healthier for me if I just start to assume any time we play on the road it’s going to be a loss and be pleasantly surprised and celebrate the times we do win (i.e. Vandy).
I mean I’d say that’s about what’s expected for most sec games outside of the bottom dwellers hard to get a road win against a solid team.

Hopefully not, but I think Auburn and Kentucky are probably Ls and 5 of the other 8 are road games. I hope Tennessee can get all 8 of those but I am nervous after tonight's offensive struggles. I realize saying "they're on the bubble" is premature, so everyone's going to jump down my throat about it, but I feel like this team is going to finish with 19 or 20 wins and be chewing their nails on selection day. It just has me nervous.
BVS is strong on the basketball forum also!

We have played a gauntlet this year, just hope it pays off by tournament time.

Texas before this game was the #8 ranked team in defensive BPI, they’re going to be higher after tonight (we may be higher too).

We really gotta get some road wins though, we are not showing up away from TBA.

Uros hurt us tonight. He has played well the last couple weeks though. Gotta hit free throws. Missing the front ends are killers in close games.
Uros isn’t it. Props to him for a couple solid fans stretch, but not night in night out. Think we need a quick trigger on the 5 spot and ride the hit hand, then go JJJ at the 4

This was talked about a lot last year too. Barnes has athletes but wont let them loose. Last years team couldve benefitted from speeding up the game and pressing as well. We just dont have a post thats dominate enough to play slow.

They need a lot of soul searching. We have virtually no inside game which makes it impossible to make a team play straight up against us. We do not hit open shots and transition is our only game right now. I love Fulky but something is just not right with him since taking that elbow.

If they wouldn’t turn down open shots and quit being to unselfish, the court wouldn’t shrink for us on offense.
Ball needs to go in to the low post and then back out. Get back to that old school New York Knicks Ewing, Mason, & Oakley style pound the rock in the paint. Physical slowdown half court offense to match our physical defense. Slugfest on both sides of the court.

Yeah. JJJ hitting back to back 3’s had literally zero to do with the comeback. My bad. You’re right.
I'm not saying he wasn't hot, but if we knew anything about James he's streaky at best.

To me I'd rather live with a higher percentage shot with arguably the hotter player in Zieg. A pull up 2 from 10 feet is a much higher percentage shot than a 30% 3 ball.

What do you think Chandler would be doing for Auburn or Kentucky right now? He’d be a lock for the lottery with those teams

I agree with you Junior Coach... but you must know why it could be???

they both have the inside game we don't

Double digit scoring in 16 of 20 games thus far this season. In those 16 games he scored less than 13 only once. He averages 14PPG so he’s the definition of consistent. He’s shooting 40% from 3 in SEC games; last I checked that’s P5 basketball and perhaps the deepest league at that.

Playing 30 minutes a game and averaging 14 points isn’t stellar when you turn the ball over multiple times a game and don’t average close to 5 assists.

I don't think the problem is with Chandler.
I think it is. He’s a horrible FT shooter and he’s too careless with the basketball. He averages nearly 3 TOs per game. ZZ had zero tonight. Whenever your starting PG is a 65% FT shooter, that’s a problem. ZZ is about 85%

Both were bad calls, fire Barnes! Am I doing this right?
I was upset over that call against jjj that gave them the free throw line so they took a one point lead. They showed a replay and JJJ did not make any contact at all. What has to occur for us fans to get a fair game called? We have to accept that they're only human and they are gonna make mistakes? In this instance that one particular call which was incorrect actually cost UT a shot at overtime and a possible win. With all the technology available and the inconsistency of the officials in todays game you'd like to think something could be done about it to make the game more fair. I'm not a crybaby because I actually witnessed it.

I'd like to think because UT was the ranked team that they would not allow themselves to be in that position to start with. This team is off philosophically, strategically, and chemistry-wise because of coaching.
