I am looking for a home defense pistol/revolver. I currently have a Remington 870 tactical 12 gauge, but want something easier for the wife to use as well. So something we both can use fairly easily. Any suggestions?

Go to the place (or even a couple) with the biggest selection you can find then handle all of them you would even consider purchasing. It has to be something that fits and points well for BOTH of you. Once that's narrowed down we can discuss particulars.

My automatic response is a Glock 19 or a Smith and Wesson M&P. You could also go to the local gun store with your wife and try a few weapons out to see what fits both of you.

I'm well aware of gun safety and responsibility. Can we get back to a few suggestions on what we should look for when we go shopping?

Easy. What your wife feels comfortable shooting. Most likely a .380 or 9mil that she can defend herself out of a groggy sleep. Probably something she doesn't have to worry about a safety.

smith and Wesson .38 revolver for her and a 1911 .45 for you

The .38 is the simplest and easiest to learn....it's going to be hard to find something that fits both your and your wife's hand

I would definitely, go to a range that rents pistols and handle them all to see what you and her like..

good luck

I always hear of people worrying about their kids finding their guns by accident. The goal is to have gun proof kids, not child proof guns.

Sometimes it's hard to find gun proof adults. My ex boyfriend and I used to argue when we'd take the kids to shoot because my kids wouldn't put their finger on the trigger until they were ready to fire and he'd get pissed at them. My ex husband was in the Army and we both enjoy shooting and hunting so gun safety is a big thing for us. It's bad when little kids have to school an adult on something like that. Good quote
