The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Oh good lord, I'm at my favorite local gun store and I'm about to do something really stupid.

The DDI is pretty sweet, it's got all the new Magpul furniture on it. The glock is a glock, the Colt 9mm is beautiful. It's a shame colt can't get their **** together.

I'll have to do a little work on the safety of the colt, it's really stiff. Typical with colt though, there is always something.

Yeah, but I'm leaving this one bone stock. Just need to polish a bit. Gonna buy some Wilson 9mm 1911 mags though.

I guess I should have asked if it was the grip safety or the safety-safety.

I had a Rock Island that had issues with the grip safety. Got it polished down and added the Wilson extended tactical (single side) safety. Works great now.

GV, what's your opinion on Rock Island? Particularly their 1911 .45s.

Solid. I don't own their .45 version, but I do have a pair of 9mm's. Both have been accurate, consistent and reliable.

Very likely the best of the "cheap" 1911s on the market. You really won't go wrong with picking one up.

Yeah, it's the thumb safety that's stiff. I'll take it off and polish the surfaces. I like a positive click on, click off. It's just not there now.

I concur on the Rock Islands.

Thanks, there's one sitting in the safe they picked up at an estate sale, doesn't look like it's been fired. Thinking about giving it a home.

It's literally a shooter grade pistol. Nothing fancy, just something that goes boom each time. Plus, you can dick around with it with aftermarket parts and not have to worry about ruining a $1,000 pistol if you do.

Grips would be the first thing I replaced.

Now that I have taken the plunge I really do understand all the Glock love. I think Glock has really gotten it right with these latest Gen 4's. I like what they have done with the slightly smaller frames and texturing with the cut off pyramids. Just a great gun.
