The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Past 3 ARNG EN BNs that mobilized out of Camp Shelby got them. They told me that the first units started receiving them a couple months ago with deploying units having priority.

First I've heard of this.

Is this a friend of a friend that told you? Only Sigs on the books right now are the M11 (P228), the Mk25 (P226 railed) for the SEALs and very limited use of the Sig P239 in .40 by NCIS.

No general issue Sigs out there, specifically the 226 model.

Only got a quick glance at it. Could have been a P228. But it was definitely a SIG. I asked the young CPT why he had a SIG and not the M9. That's when I found out that Big Army was issuing SIGs. Never heard if that before.

Probably the 228. Could be a special issue kind of thing. Big Army isn't issuing them on a wide scale basis. Just not enough in the inventory.

Actually, I went with the pistol that was killin folks that needed killin before Gaston Glock was even born. :)

I can understand the single action love of the sig/1911

Do you really need the safety?
Do you realy want to be locked and loaded?

serious question man

Maybe its a NG thing. I haven't heard/seen AD getting SIGs

Okay, the Sig stuff earlier was about the Army supposedly making them a general issue. I own some of the Legacy series. But my main go to are 1911s.

Safety isn't a bad thing especially on a SAO system. And locked and loaded? All my pistols are kept that way whether they are in the night stand or riding on my belt.

Why the 1911? It comes down to the simple points: the fact I can shoot them accurately and they feel the most comfortable in my hands. Tried Glocks, Berettas (issued and hate it 20 years later), Sigs, H&K, Rugers, Smith and Wesson, the XD, you name it. And kept coming back to the 1911 as a pistol I could hit exactly what I was aiming at and felt the most natural to me.

Only one modern double stack that I ever shot as well as a 1911 and that was the Browning BDM. And they stopped making them so getting spare parts is a costly pain in the butt.

I've got nothing against any other brand, well, some, but if you aren't comfortable with a particular personal pistol, why force it?

I love sig, but the glock is lighter, cheaper, has higher capacity and needs no break-in in my experience.

I'm getting a Glock 20 before I go to Alaska

What part of Alaska are you going to?

The wife & I are going to drive out there & live for 3 months or so. She is a RN & travel nurses can get pretty sweet opportunities up there. We are big hikers and want to check out some National parks on our way, pulling a camper & hiking along the way. I also hope to get some awesome pictures. I carry a Glock 23, but want to bring my .270 & Super Black Eagle 2. Not sure what hunting opportunities I will have but want to be prepared.

We will not know what town we will live in until closer to departure date.

My wife is an RN but she's never looked into travel.

My job is at the mercy of DOE and the Federal budget pissing matches, so I'm always telling her we might need to look into that if things go bad in my job. Seems like she's leaving a lot of money on the table "just" working in Knoxville.

This would be her first travel nursing assignment. The opportunity is amazing. They will pay for housing, sign on bonus, travel, etc. Usually a 13 week assignment. You go to the area they assign, no say in location.I might get a job/ might not. We plan on exploring while there. After the assignment is up we might take another stop in CA too.

Anyone have good/bad experience with leather holsters? I am bidding on one on Ebay made by Desantis and it seems to have good reviews.

Desantis is good stuff.

I use a Looper Brand leather holster for the IPSC shoots with my 1911. Just feels natural for a 1911 to ride in one.

Can't find anything besides ladies stuff on the Looper webstore. But if you want something in particular, I can check into it locally since it's an OKC company.

Thanks for the tips. I won my auction so I guess I'm stuck with it regardless lol
