I dunno, I've seen a lot of jerks on the range before that could shoot well. They typically are the ones that push around those three wheeled baby stroller looking things and have corporate logos smeared all over their clothing.

And generally can't shoot worth a damn as it is. :)

It's funny to get those kinds into a Virginia count score during a competition. And see their scores/times afterwards. Great leveling tactic that Virginia count is.

I'm getting a Glock 20 before I go to Alaska

Underwood Ammo has some 200gr fmj flat nose in stock, which I would chose over the 220 hardcast. They also have some 135gr ,1600fps wow! , for the two legged critters.

Great ammo and comes in boxes of 50.

Got my permit today in the mail. Only 11 days after doing my prints. Pretty dang quick.

Can't recall if I asked this before or not but do most of you experienced shooters shoot with both eyes open? If so, how long did it take you to develop the quick focus on the front post.

Depends on the platform and range.

On rifles with RDS, I have been shooting both eyes open, especially at reduced ranges (under 100 yards). For distance and precision, I go left eye closed.

Pistols are much the same. Point shooting at ranges under 15 yards for the first two shots and one eye closed for the head shot generally in the Mozambique. Again, precision shots and distance means one eye closed.

Point shooting can be valuable in close environments, but is rarely taught anymore. Flash sight is the more common approach to shooting that most schools employ.

As for how fast you pick up the front sight? Time and practice. Can't quantify it with a number, it just comes around eventually.

I've tried off and on and if I concentrate I can allow my dominant eye to make out the sight but it's not a natural acquisition. As a result, 95% of the time I go with one eye.

To complicate things I'm have presbyopia so at the range I have a set of glasses with a 1.5x lens for my shooting eye and normal for my non shooting so I can focus on the target (between shots) and on the sights (during shots). Getting old sucks.

I need to practice without the mag lens though since in defensive situations I won't have my magic glasses. Problem is, the front post is blurry and forget about the back sights.

Try the point shooting especially at close ranges. If you are in a defensive situation especially with a CCW, chances are you are going to be in the kind of situation that point shooting will work in.

Start close and work your way out.

I get that a lot..I just like em!

Couldn't get used to the trigger myself. And hated the fact my trigger finger kept swiping up against the mag drop on the P30. Never released it, just annoying.

If you could put a Sig SRT in an H&K frame, it would be the cat's meow.

Indeed. Love the ergos of the P30 but the trigger blows. The short trigger and SRT of the P226 would be the perfect addition.

Personally I prefer the mag release of HKs and Walters to the button style on the grip.

Heard about a very sad accident in Roane county in which a good man didn't survive.

Please, PLEASE check, re-check, and check again any firearm you pick up. Even if the tiniest doubt crosses your mind, check it a 4th time. Keep it pointed in a safe direction. Follow the rules we all know.
