The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

So where are you guys shooting these rifles? Doesn't seem like an indoor range would be much fun.

How do you find land to shoot on?

DNR ranges here in SC. In my case, a buddy of mine has family with a good bit of land. So we head out there every couple of weeks or so.

I hate you. :p

On the other hand if it was THAT easy for me to shoot my ammo expenses would skyrocket.

Yes sir indeed. I'm running low. Can't find any 22 right now. And with my son deciding to shoot competitively next year it's only going to go up.

But should make for great father/son time.

I have a friend who is a marine sniper (former) I'm going to get him to help us learn to make the long shots. I'm good to about 300 yards but I want to reach out there.

I'm not, obsessed, wants to channel his inner "Carlos"

Yes, I see that now.

Utter posting fail while trying to navigate interstate traffic today.

Yes Obsessed, get ready to spend for a decent piece of glass. Having said that, the Burris are pretty good scopes for the price. And the Vortex are decent as well.

You start getting into the insane prices with the Nightforce and Schmidt & Bender levels. Who needs a house, right?

Here's a youtube video I made to showcase my 1941 German luger. My grandpa brought it back from WWII, and it's in excellent condition with matching numbers.

Burris is what I have on my short mag. As for the boy- I think I'll go with a reasonable 3x9x40 by bushnell (he's 11)

Let him get efficient at 50 yards then stretch it out to 100 yards. Can't justify a high dollar scope on him yet. I'm sure you guys can appreciate that.

But it does me no good if I can't get ammo. I just can't bring myself to pay 60 bucks for 300 rounds of target loads.

Hitting the mom and pop places Monday
(Provided I make it through the wife's Christmas party tonight). :)

That's great. What discipline has he chosen? If he's competing with anything other than rim-fire, it's probably worth your time to look into loading your own.... As much for the quality of ammo as the expense.

Rim fire as of now. 223 as he gets more efficient and comfortable with firearms

Discipline?

What event? Silhouette, Olympic, Etc?

It's a combo I guess. Silhouette and things like skeet. They try and do different forms of shooting.

He is very excited about it and I'm excited for him. It's something I enjoy doing as well.

That's great. Look into The Sportsmans Team Challenge. I had a blast doing it with my family.

Check out the Vortex line at Primary Arms. The Crossfire series is a pretty good deal for what you get.

ETA: The offer is still on the table for some .22

As an informal poll and completely hypothetical since I'm guessing most of you actually lost all the weapons you've discussed in this thread...

What's your nightstand gun?
