The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

That's because you've never had to work on a large hole Colt...

The funny saying in the gun community is about H&K with "you suck and we hate you." Colt really put that into practice from time to time.

Just tuggin' on your mustache, Elder...you know that. You of all people are well aware of my inexplicable and sometimes frustrating obsession with all things Colt. Thanks to your help, I have managed to turn them into 3 pretty solid fighting rifles.

;)

And you know I suggest a 6920 as a no frills first carbine normally.

I still think Colt is missing the bandwagon with the mid length actions.

I appreciate the second amendment every time a coyote decides they want to visit my farm. Also that time some idiots wandered on to my property sightseeing. I don't mean to be rude but when you wander onto a property with one road in the middle of nowhere you aren't going to get a warm reception.

Does anyone have the Ruger Precision Rimfire? That's next on my list of purchases.

I can't decide on the caliber, but I am leaning towards the 17HMR because I don't have one and I like how you can practise long distance shooting at a reasonable 100-200 yards and it correlates to .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor at 400 plus yards.

I've been reading up on the NLR22 competitions, which is 22 LR only. The NLR22 seems like it would be a fun family activity and we could hone our skills.

"Be polite, be professional, and have a plan to kill everyone you meet."

Every time we go back to TN, we end up driving around areas from Townsend to Tellico Plains, looking for a piece of land to put our cabin on. Now and then, we end up on a gravel road to a dead-end. We've met quite a number of nice folks along the way. I make it a point to let them approach me, as opposed to the other way around. Never had an issue.

Knowing how to behave when you are the stranger is essential.

Yes, the two that I came across were very loud and I watched them a while from the ridge above then. When I was satisfied what I was dealing with I yelled to them with my gun over my shoulder in a non threatening manner but at the ready. I was stern but reasonable given the circumstances. They wanted to hunt, I let them know nobody was welcome on my land with weapons and anyone I encounter with one would be considered a threat and let them know where the nearest WMA was.

I've shot an RPR but I don't own one. It wouldn't be my choice for NLR... and yes, NLR is a fun family activity.

You'll see a lot of Vudoo custom bolt actions at NLR matches. You can't go wrong with Anschultz. Kidd 10/22 semiautos are also popular. If those are out of your price range, pick up a CZ457. They perform way above their price point and you'll see plenty of them on the line.

anyone have experience with a full size 1911 .22 conversion kit? Those things seem kind of pricey, like maybe it's better to just buy a plinker, but I am curious. Video reviews seem mixed.

Don't know about conversation kits, but the Sig 1911-22 is an outstanding full size .22 in a 1911 package. It's actually made by GSG (German Sport Guns) but is marked Sig Sauer.

Around $350 or so and worth the cost to dedicate one of your pistols to that caliber.

Are you talking about the Colt Ace kits? Because yes those get expensive quick. Aside from the practicality you’re paying for the brand and collectibility as well.

Thanks. Looks like we have several American Tactical/GSG dealers in the Nashville area. I may try to look at one in person.

maybe a really dumb question, but does the AR platform in 7.62x39 deliver better accuracy and distance than an AK?
I’m going to check that very thing on the property Saturday. We’re going to check the AK, SKS, mini 30 and the AR. I’ve not compared the SKS but the Mini is more accurate at 150 than the AK

I’m looking for recommendations for a Knoxville area gunsmith to install night sights on a S&W M&P 9 Shield.
