The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Anyone know about magazine issues with DDM4's? (V7 LW 5.56) Bought mine used and it came with three magpul 30 rd mags. Noticed they didn't always seat on the first try. Today I had more trouble than usual, and one had to be forced out after it ran empty. I'm guessing I need to invest in some new mags, but would like to find some that I know will work.

Pmags should work with anything and that was the stock mag with my AR. DD has their own mag and that’s probably what you should try next. Looks like you would’ve gotten it with the gun though.

if new mags don't work, maybe check the tension on the mag release catch?

I’ve had trouble with p-mags. I use aluminum mags - fit right in - no issues.

Dang that sucks.

I walked out the other day with 2 boxes of .270, about 1k rounds of .22, 3 boxes of 9mm (3 box limit on 9mm), about 12 boxes of 12g (various), a few hundred rounds of .22 WMR, and some 5.56........all at normal pre pandemic prices.

I suspect some people are going from store to store, buying up everything then selling for $$$.

People can keep checking CCI & Federal Premium (online) their “in stock” changes pretty much every week. When it’s in stock the prices are fairly good......but make sure your buying $100.....if not you have to pay $12 shipping.

I’d assume I’d need to go in right when they open. Do you know when they get trucks?

I've carried P Mags on multiple deployments, ranges, training etc. I've never cleaned them and have never once had an issue.

The slightest dent in an aluminum mag (unless it's an HK) and it's useless

Most of mine are polymer but I do think the metal lip is more reliable, assuming it's not bent. Hopefully, I'll never be in a situation where it makes a difference.

This is most likely what you need.

FYI. Armslist is now a pay to play website. You can still look for free but you can’t touch. Hate to see it but they’ve been targeted for years.

And still with a million ads. Seems dumb to me. There should be a small fee maybe to post an ad but a subscription to buy will make a lot of folks go elsewhere to look.

Anyone seen any 30-30, .30-06, .357/.38S, or 6.5 Creedmoor anywhere, or have any for sale?

Pick up one new PMag and see if it works.

I'd trust your life to my Pmags.

It’s all I have and I don’t have an issue with any of them. Might be a burr or something on the mag release.
I think there's a couple of things going on. New product may not be getting the same level of QC as pre-Covid before shipping out because manufacturers are understaffed and possibly in a rush to get product to market before the next congress has a chance to restrict stuff that they currently have parts to assemble. The unmet demand for new is making a lot of people with extra decide that now is a great time to sell and used product is often going to need a little tlc (unless you're buying from YankeeVol, of course). Just a theory.

It’s possible but it’s just a a molded polymer so I wouldn’t think there would be much variance from mag to mag. If he has multiple pmags behaving the same way I’m leaning to it being an issue with the gun design or an issue with the mag well or mag release. A lot of ARs ship with a stock pmag but the Daniel Defense doesn’t. They have their own mag and theirs is slightly different than a pmag but it’s also possible they’re made at the same place with just an aesthetic difference.

If it's used, there shouldn't have been a break in problem. It's a decent chance the mag release is too tight, but that wouldn't necessarily cause drop free issues with one versus another.

My DD I had some years ago had a receiver with a bad grip screw hole. I tried replacing the grip and found they'd forced the grip on at the factory. They replaced it with zero questions, but I figured if I was going to pay that much for an AR, I'll go with BCM going forward.

Never buying one of those Colts though.

stopped by LGS on my way home from the office, just to window shop. They had a new M4 for $1100 and change. I thought about the fact that this may be my last chance to buy a new Colt AR for a moment and left emptyhanded.

I posted this not even realizing that Colt walked back their decision not sell ARs to civvies. I thought I was keeping up with this stuff. Apparently not.
