The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

G19's set the standard for a carry gun. Although, some people like Glocks, some don't. The grip angle does take some getting used to. Great carry gun though.

Anything you think that I should. How's the pull, cleaning, good carry gun. Just anything that stands out to you.

I love mine but Glocks aren't for everyone, some 1911 guys don't like the trigger and sometimes pull shots left (not me).
The short reset trigger is great although that's not exclusive to the Glock. Takedown and cleaning doesn't get much easier, especially cleaning. The takedown takes 3-5 seconds, that's it. Then it's just 4 or 5 pieces to clean (my spring is attached to my guide rod, hence the "or").

In regards to it being a good carry gun, that's obviously personal preference. It's not too big but not extremely small either, so depending on where you would carry it and inside the waistband or outside the waistband and types of holsters definitely come in to play, as well as how big you are and how loose your clothing would be. I carry mine daily unless I'm working with my shirt tucked in, but again it's definitely not a subcompact. The polymer frame gives it a great weight, but 15+1 capacity certainly adds some weight (the trade off is 16 shots though lol). And lastly it doesn't have a typical external safety which is a huge factor to a lot of people, but with proper technique/control, plenty of practice, and the advancement of technology in holsters that's not a big factor for me. The custom kydex holsters virtually eliminate the chances for negligent discharge IMO.

It's a Glock, it's simple yet effective and extremely rugged. Check out some of the tests on YouTube that people do to them and they still fire. And for $500-$600 you're not breaking the bank and you're getting a fantastic firearm.

Just wanted to get another opinion on it really. Thanks for the feedback man!

They've just never fit my hand/grip very well.

I think the Walther PPQ is a great Glock alternative one wants something more ergonomic.

I gotta admit the "feel" of the PPQ is really nice. A friend had me wander around a gunshow with him just to get my input and one of the things I had him do was see how certain pistols fit his hand. We both loved the Walther but at the time it was just a bit out of what he wanted to spend.

If I ever bump into one at a good enough price I may well have to buy it. (Though I'm currently wanting a Ruger Bisley in .45LC more than needing an auto)

The trigger is even better than the feel. Crisp and really short reset. Almost to light but certainly makes it easy to hit what you are aiming at. I picked up a used one.

I also prefer the Euro style mag release and lever style slide release (ala HK).

Downside is that accessories are no where near as common as for the Glocks

If you like Hickok45 videos he does 2 with the PPQ and concludes he'd like to have that trigger on all his Glocks

any u fellas seen the new remington r51 thats gunna hit shelves in feb...looks pretty sweet, single stack 9 soon to be 40..and its a remake of the classic

About equal I'd say.

As a friend once told me price isn't a bargaining chip when doing trades. If both parties go away happy, then it was a good trade.

My buddy I traded with wanted to go smaller for concealed carry. I figured it was about an equal trade as I would have felt bad trying to trade him one of my others that was significantly lower in value. I am more of a collector but have other carry guns, just not another H&K. We both walked away happy.

Did it have the LEM on it?

If so, you should have laughed conspiratorially when you walked away. Worst DAO trigger I've ever seen.

Actually picked this up at the last gun expo. I was told only 50 were available in K-town and that most were going to hoard them because of the expected appreciation in value. Something about Remintons first Issue in 90 years.

The price is $50.00 dollars less than retale value. I got it for 649.00 then tax and background.
Great weapon can't recomend it enough

you mean this one

Pretty cool, Remington updating a classic. General Patton carried the original model 51 throughout the European theater during ww2 as a back up pistol.

I'm very interested in the r51.

Here's the dimensions relative to xds and MP Shield. Looks like a contender to me

Biggest thing I'm wondering about is the trigger pull. I'm not fond of striker fired pistols since I typically am used to a 1911 single action trigger. And this omits Glock, the Shield and Kahrs.

So very interested in the actions of the R51 and could look at replacing my Kahr with it.

ive been researching all day and actually placed a phone call with my local gun store making sure im able to pick up one of these babies on release day. its between 6-8 pound trigger pull anf from all accounts and reviews ive been able to find (not many) it looks like a target pistol with the power of 9mm +p....

Is it striker? What I read made it sound like some type of pre-cocked hammer; basically single action with the grip safety as the safety mechanism

I can't stop looking at the dude's beard!

6 pounds is pretty significant. Would have figured it to be in the 4-5 range myself.

Yes, it is hammer fired. Was reading the TTAG article and got confused when I saw striker in the article.

Once used to a good 1911 trigger almost everything else feels terrible.
