The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Just picked up a Remington 700 in 30-06. I figure a bolt action 30-06 is a necessity for any gun collection.

.30-06 is about as versatile a cartridge as you're ever going to get. Nothing in the Northern Hemisphere it won't take and is even respectable against a lot of African game as well.

Always handy to have a rifle chambered in that around.

Especially Iif it happens to be a BAR.

As an informal poll and completely hypothetical since I'm guessing most of you actually lost all the weapons you've discussed in this thread...

What's your nightstand gun?

Before the boating accident I kept a couple of mine in different places nearby. Taurus Judge 410/45 w/in reach, mossberg 500 tactical 12ga by the dresser, sig sauer p220 elite dark 45 and glock g19 9mm in other readily accessible spots.

My EDC is/was a sig p938 9mm and the g19

Have/had a TCP 380 for the Mrs

In the safe is/was a few different shotguns for hunting/skeet, nothing fancy, 12ga's & a 410
A Winchester 1894 30-30 (1952)
Daniel defense m4 v5 in 300blk
Bushmaster xm15-e2s 556/223
Another AR that I built with a hodgepodge of manufacturers, 556/223 with foliage green furniture
Ruger 10/22
Glock g23 40cal
Colt 1911 22lr government model that I won

I think that's it...May they all RIP

Posted this in the Glock thread but thought it fit better here.

I like what I'm seeing with this Remington r51.

First Look: Remington R51 Sub-Compact Pistol | Guns & Ammo

Looks like the Sig P232 (.380) and sounds to be just slightly larger than the MP Shield or XDS.

Price is nice too (MSRP $389). Apparently holsters are already available as is a threaded barrel version for those of you who want to go James Bond.

Speaking of James Bond, this has a PPK style too but in 9mm.

Actually picked this up at the last gun expo. I was told only 50 were available in K-town and that most were going to hoard them because of the expected appreciation in value. Something about Remintons first Issue in 90 years.

The price is $50.00 dollars less than retale value. I got it for 649.00 then tax and background.
Great weapon can't recomend it enough

Remington 1911 R1S .45 5"

Nice f'in pickup. Can't beat an M1911.

I have never owned a pistol before. Looking for a home defense/carry gun. My buddy is selling this gun. Is this a good deal?

Good compromise between a 9 and 40. Def a good home defense gun. For all that your getting the price doesn't look bad and if he's your buddy he might let you off a little cheaper.

Edit. Just read where its full size and not a compact. so for carry purposes might not be good. Still a great night stand gun.

I've read it's tough to find ammo for it. Any truth to that?

Don't own a 357 so I can't speak to that. I have noticed that ammo is getting easier to get over the past few months. Check with a few local gun shops and see how often they get it first.

Not necessarily hard in good times, but the lack of popularity of the caliber tends to get production shunted to the back burner during shortages. And when it is available, it tends to be a little on the pricey side. FMJ and TMJ loads run about $0.40-0.50 per round.

Also looking at a Ruger LC9.

I like the LC9s just fine. Greatly easier to find ammo.

If its me, I'd probably go with LC9 and extra $$ in my pocket but thats just me. Big fan of Rugers.

Also, I've got a Taurus G2 I picked up for $290. 500 rounds in and I'm shocked how much I love shooting it. Carries great as well. Might be worth a look.

Thank you. I'll definitely look at it.

it's not among the common calibers

best advice is 1) think about what you want in a gun 2) read reviews 3) revise #1 4) go to gun store and handle all sorts of things revise #1 5) go to range an rent styles/calibers your are interested revise #1 6) fill out form and pay the man

M&P full size .357 and LC9 are completely different guns. Either could be the right choice depending on
