The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

I think marks also has a sig armorer on duty. I used to hate going in marks for anything, they've made some substantial changes in the last year or so though. I find myself there pretty regular now. I'm in Oneonta, so it's a good drive anywhere for me.

Mark's is where I do most of my buying - they've treated me well on trade values and their smiths have done two service items for me for free (rear site drifting and removing a casing that was lodged in the barrel)

I like BPW too but it's a bit out of the way for me.

I window shop at Hoover Tactical and have bought some there. Overall, it's a good experience and nice range.

I try to avoid SE Guns if possible unless I want to be treated like crap

Haha I know just what you mean about SE guns.
I hear Simmons has revamped their store but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

Did you have a chance to put that Tacops through it's paces?

Plan to tomorrow. Went to BPW this afternoon and picked up a used one of these (Bersa Firestorm 380). Something about this form factor appeals to me - I have a nice SS Sig p232 and this thing is very similar. May end up with a PPK eventually to round out the collection - BPW had some used Beretta 84s and 85s but they were pretty rough.

Back from the range.

The little Bersa was a champ - comfortable, easy shooter. No malfunctions on 50 rounds of range ammo. Didn't shoot it as well as my Sig 232 but the Sig has better sites and better site picture. I really like this gun and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great value in a 380. Kinda big for a 380 but it won't punish you like an LCP or other pocket guns.

The Sig 226 was good too. It's a big gun and with 18 rounds it's was pretty heavy compared to my others. Ran as expected (100 rounds). Did a mag of DA only and had one hiccup where I apparently didn't fully decock it. Didn't shoot it as accurately as my PPQ but the reset and SA pull felt on par with the PPQ (slight edge to PPQ). Shot on par with the HK P30L but the trigger is miles better. If the HK had the Sig trigger it would be perfect. The PPQ would be perfect except the trigger is so light I'd hesitate to carry it. If I get into IDPA, the PPQ will be the gun.

Question of those with a DA/SA Sig. Can you hear the spring or other metallic sounds when pulling the trigger slowly in DA? Mine seems loud and the trigger pull is harder than I expect - not sure if it's "gritty" (don't know what that means) but it seems there's some metal on metal resistance going on. Same is true when manually cocking the hammer.

Worth taking to a Sig service place to get it broken down and checked?

Could be metal on metal. Try dropping some lube into the hammer area to see if it helps out. TW25 grease works best, but some standard lube should be fine.

Has anyone attended an NRA convention before?

After seeing all that went on at the one in Houston last year I really hope to be able to attend the one next year in Nashville.
