Cool

I have a .22 that I refinished that was my Great GrandDad's!! I would rather shoot my 10-22 Ruger but it is awesome to have that connection to my Ancestors. I will pass it on to my son, hopefully(no kids yet).

I have a K98 Mauser my granddad brought back from WWII and a National Postal Meter M1 that was his he got to keep somehow.

Just a word of endorsement on Crimson Trace. I have their rail light and one of the brackets broke due to me over tightening it. I contacted them via email and heard back in less than 24 hours that a replacement bracket was on the way - no charge. Got it in about a week.

Good customer service

Been working on a collection of WWII main battle rifles. I have those two, a Carcano, a Mosin, and an Enfield. Still need a Garand and an Arisaka.

While not my intention, I'm somewhat on my way towards a WWII collection as well. I have an Arisaka (with what I think is airplane sights, although not sure) and Mosin-Nagant as well. The Arisaka was my great-grandfather's that he brought back from WWII (along with what I'd say is a peasant's kitana), while the Mosin belonged to my wife's grandparents who were Latvian/Lithuanian and survived the horrors of the Germans and the Russians.

Other than that, my apocalypse armament is decent enough. SW 99, Mossberg tactical shotgun with pistol grip, 30-30 Marlin, and Romanian AK-47 (7.62 x 39; non-automatic).

Pretty good for a high-filuty college lib.

With that collection I would say you are definitely not a lib. lol

Did you ever get the hammer problem rectified?

I lubed it up well and it's a bit smoother but I'm gonna take it in and let an expert check it out and probably break it all down and give it a good cleaning. I don't have the tools, know-how or patience to go beyond field stripping and cleaning.

Interesting, thanks for the links. Need to do some more reading.

By the way, anyone heard of this site:

Model 1 Sales:

Affordable AR kits. It's my understanding that the only thing you need to buy is a lower receiver. This site sells the rest.

Yep, the "lower" is the FFL (serialized) part of the weapon. The rest is just parts you can have mailed right to you.

Model 1 Sales is known for some lower quality stuff that cuts corners on AR parts. I'd personally go higher quality when building an AR myself.

Just good ole Brownells is usually as good a place as any.

Palmetto State depending on what it happens to be and if the specs are right. Bravo Company, G&R Tactical, Rainier, DSG, Primary Arms and Midwest Industries are my typical go to sites.

As well as Brownells.

You'll shoot your eye out.

I have no clue why I'm sharing this, but my second worst memory from childhood is of my father and me shooting air rifles out in the backyard (lived in the country) one Sunday afternoon. He had gone to check the targets and set more up, while I was left behind at the porch with the guns. I was maybe somewhere between 10-13. And although my father always thought me about gun safety, that still didn't prevent me from lifting up one of the air rifles and pointing it at him down range. I had no intention of pulling the trigger. It was just some sort of bizarre adolescent power trip, I guess. Anyhow, he turned around unexpectedly, and my ass was toast. I wasn't allowed to touch a gun for quite some time afterwards, and my backside didn't fare well either. I've always regretted my decision, and it still hurts me till this day.

My worst memory, however, was of me shooting a blue songbird from a tree limb one day. Probably the same damn air rifle and around about the same damn time too. Apparently I was an ******* with an air rifle back in those days. Even now, I can still see that beautiful bird falling lifeless from the tree. I'm not against hunting by any means, but there was no reason for me to shoot that particular bird. It was senseless and wasteful. I've never forgiven myself, despite my age and naivete.

Anyhow, thanks for making me reminisce, you a-hole! haha! Just kidding with you.
