The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Okay H&K lovers, start drooling:

http://www.gandrtactical.com/images/archive/HK/VP9 Product Sheet JUNE.pdf

MSRP of $719 so street price will be in the $600s. Has H&K finally woken up and realized very few could afford their products and actually priced it within market reach?

Bet the mags (it's P30 mag compatible) are still going to be godawful expensive.

So it's a striker version of the P30? I love the look, feel and accuracy of my P30L but the trigger is not good at all.

Trigger is supposed to be at 5.5 pounds. And a different angle over what the P30 has. Not bad at all.

If I had to wager a guess at why Sig and H&K suddenly built a striker fired gun, the USAF handgun competition and RFP is around the corner. So I'd assume a contract for 80,000 pistols as well as bench stock is on everyone's mind right now. And the cheaper the better so my guess is this is why the H&K suddenly dropped significantly in price.

Several hundred rounds into my Taurus Millennium Pro G2.

Look I realize some people loathe Taurus and will never dream of even holding one...

But I am floored at how much I love the gun. Took it out of the case, gave a quick cleaning, and promptly ripped out the 10 ring. Hasn't stopped. Zero hiccups, zero issues. Shot numerous brands, reloads, FMJ to various defense rounds.

I have less than 300 bucks in it.

Its like going to Shoney's and getting a Peddler level steak.

Nothing wrong with Taurus. I've had 3-4 with no problems. I've had good luck with them, Sig and a few S&W's.

Had to mail in my registration of my guns yesterday. There are some parts of CA that I absolutely hate

I know. I've had wonderful luck with them.

I guess the internet gun world has conditioned me to prepare for a sh*tstorm any time Taurus is mentioned.

Same stigma as Bersa. And let me tell you something...I've never had a single issue with my Bersa Thunder 380.

My Walther PPk/s, however, is in Arkansas right now getting repaired after ONE (1) day at the range. Pretty bummed about it.

We gave up trying to get my uncle's Thunder .380 to screw up. I've seen firecrackers burn cleaner than some of the crap he shot in that thing. Just chugged right along.

Haha man it really is tough as nails! I love the Bersa. I hope the Walther malfunction was a rarity. Time will tell. As of today...

Bersa > Walther

Taurus is hit and miss which is why some people love them, some hate them. I've actually never heard anyone complain about their 92 and 99 models. The 24/7 models are supposed to be okay.

After having to replace the guide rod on their 1911 and the sights sucking straight up donkey butt, I'll never own one of their 1911s again.

Been checking out ammo prices online for the first time in a while. Looks like the prices of .22 ammo has stabilized and and has become more available.

Eh, we're nowhere near back to normal. I still haven't actually seen a box of .22LR on an actual store shelf in over two years. As far as major online retailers go Cabelas has zero 22LR as I type this and neither does Brownells. Midway has only Eley Match and subsonic.

If the big online retailers have no stock then we're a long way from being caught up...at least with 22LR. (Just about everything else is much better now though)

I think the horders might have finally hit their limit.

Knock on wood.

Wishful thinking. Apparently a buddy of mine came across some of the 333 packs at Academy Sports and the vultures were lining up trying to get at it.

Still selling the same packs for $75 at gun shows around these parts.

I was looking on Ammoseek and there was plenty of 22LR, albeit still significantly above pre-2013 prices.

It's the common availability of even remotely reasonably priced 22LR I was addressing. If major retailers (online or brick and mortar) are still unable to carry ANY readily available stock and what can be found is at prices many (myself included) simply refuse to pay then the problem is still very much with us. It could probably be argued that we're "better" than we've been but we're a loooong way from being back to normal.

I know, but I'll take any hope I can get. The one here had 50rd boxes of basic CCI for 3.50.

They actually lasted 2 days.

Sounds pitiful now that I actually type that out.

Sadly, I'm beginning to think we'll never see a 550-round box of 22LR for $20 ever again. Especially with the anti-gun crowd clamoring for new gun control laws every few months.

While this observation makes sense to me about firearm purchases the astonishing (and continuing) run on 22LR is amazing. I was at Academy this weekend and the shelves were pretty full of everything else, including 223/5.56, at reasonable prices. No 22LR in sight at any price though.

This is some pictures of an old Mauser I have . Grand Vol requested I post these.

The markings on the gun says:

Left side

cal. 30 - 06

MAUSER MODELO
ARGENTINO 1909

DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND
MUNITIONSFABRIKEN BERLIN

right side
E6778 ( twice on metal, has a at end of one of those looks like a fancy M) 6778 is also underneath on metal

On the stock
C 4621

Now tell me about it GV or anyone else. I bought the gun back in the early 1970's . I have always understood it to be an old WW1 gun. May not be, I am no gun expert.

Okay, what you have here is an imported Argentine Model 1909 Mauser. And has a sportarized stock on it that was put on by whichever company did the importing from Argentina. Most came in during the 50s or so if memory serves.

Originally in 7.65x53mm Argentine caliber, some were converted when they were imported into a more standard US caliber (like .30-06) by reaming the chamber out and calling it good. It may have been rebarreled as well, but that would take a gunsmith to find out. I think I can make out the military crest on top of the receiver which makes it an Argentine issue.

There is no difference in the 1909 actions and the 1898 Mauser actions. Just a different cartridge (8x57mm vs 7.65x53mm) and slightly different stock.

It's worth about 200-400 depending on bore condition and actions. You've kept yours nice over the years.

Yeah it is in good shape, very good shooting gun. The bolt action is smooth. I thought it may be worth more, but I am not planning on selling it so it doesn't matter. I gave $50 for it around 40 years ago.
