not necessarily a value gun, but quality

Nighthawk customs in Berryville, Ar

Would post a link to there website, but I got an error message when I just looked it up

CZ handguns are hard to beat at the price point.

This. But honestly, it would be easier to make a list of gun these days that are not worth the price point.

My vote, for the 1911 lovers, would be on the Rock Island brand. Those things are pretty dang good for around $500.

Bersa. And I'm not even kidding.

There's a lot of truth to that. I bought my wife a Thunder 380CC and the thing has been AK-like in its ability to shoot anything and everything...and it just keeps running.

When you catch them on sale for 260ish...the Taurus G2s are ridiculous values. Yes, I'm serious.

Who do you think fits in this category? Walther maybe one, S&W maybe two, Remington maybe three.

I love Kimber (don't have one), Colt (have one), Springfield (have one). I think the Springfield is the best value in a 1911. I would love to have a Kimber but if I bought it I would probably never shoot it. I would shoot a Sig 1911 if I bought it.

You guys have convinced me I'm getting a Bersa. I have an old Ruger P89. Say what you want about Ruger but the damn thing shoots every time. But, it is heavy.

They are essentially a clone company are they not?

Not that I'm aware of. I'm almost certain the 75 is entirely theirs.

Shot a friends 75...I actually like it. Seemed a bit clunky but it ran flawlessly and put bullets where I intended them to go.

I think Sig for the money is one of the better "nice" 1911s on the market. The slide is like it's on ball bearings and the trigger is superb.

But if you're looking for a shooter and project gun it's hard to beat the Rock Island.

For not worth the money?

H&K other than the VP9 these days. They have a cult following otherwise. Good guns, but way overpriced in my opinion. Taurus aren't worth the price even though it's ridiculously low to start with. I would say Bushmaster aren't worth the insane prices they have on the base models.

LaRue Tactical except for their scope and other mounts. Not worth the price for their rifles or accessories. (And cue the pitchfork wielding Larueminati lol)

I've always thought of CZ75 as a Beretta clone. They just look so much alike. I know eastern European military and police use them almost exclusively.

The Taurus PT92, IIRC, is pretty much a straight up clone of the Beretta. In fact I believe Beretta sold their production plant in Brazil to Taurus so the latter was even produced on the same tooling.

Maybe the PPK from Walther but their other stuff (PPQ in particular) is reasonable and awesome.

The P99AS if you can find one is nice too.

Have heard the PPX is a heck of a value but it's got a unique trigger that some may not like.

PPS is popular.

You can't beat a SA range officer or mil spec for a starter or project 1911. Best customer service in the business and one of the top 3 custom shops out there. 3000 rounds through my Pro and not a single hiccup. Cleaned and lubed it once when I first purchased it new.

Magazines are almost interchangeable.

Not even close. All in all, the CZ75 is a better design IMO. More accurate since the slide runs inside the rails instead of outside and a far better grip than any Beretta.

I agree.
