The Official #3 Tennessee vs. #11 Michigan NCAA Tournament Game Thread, 5:50 PM ET, CBS

How many 3s did Barnes miss? I think we are over evaluating a game we lead most of despite terrible shooting.
How many interceptions did Jeremy Pruitt throw? Or Butch? Or Dooley? This is a common theme with Barnes accept it. Like I said yes he’s a good coach, I am grateful for him but he will never take us deep. That is obvious.

I take the blame for this loss. Last weekend I wore my UT Nike Pegasus all weekend on my runs as well as Thursday. This morning I ran a 10 mile race and took 2 pairs of shoes; I ultimately opted for the other pair. A gravely mistake that will never happen again.

This was more disappointing, the bowl game was more infuriating
One other thing: these cbs games with the 10 minute tv timeouts really helped them. That big guy got so much rest. That’s about the only thing coach-wise that Barnes could have done is to run, run, run and try to wear that guy out since they didn’t really have anyone behind him. You can’t do it when the tv timeouts are so long.

Exactly and that was my original point before someone else went all gun ho about defending Uros. We don’t currently have a big who can take over a game for us when the 3s aren’t going in. Hopefully BHH and/or Aidoo develop into that though.
I’m optimistic about the future of both BHH and Aidoo.
GBO!!

We use Barnes until he retires — he builds the program and expectations and then brings a young big name to continue his dynasty. I personally look forward to Kim English getting some training and then coming back home to Tennessee!

It’s time to put in a transition plan.

I’m still a basketball fan so I’m still going to watch. We know the deal going into this thing every tournament. 68 teams enter, 1 teams leaves. I used to get upset at losses but it’s just the nature of the tournament and I except it for what it is.

Exactly. You have a 1/68 chance of winning it. It’s one of the most difficult championships in sports to win. Would at least an elite 8 have been nice? Yep. But that’s the nature of the beast.

Ban worthy, imo!!
😉

Feeling bad for a guy who played his last game probably ever? And it wasnt an honest question. Dont be stupid.
Every player out there played to their abilities, just because fulky isn’t as talented as KC or JJJ, he deserves more pity? Cmon man, it don’t matter if he has been around 6 years or 6 months

I trust everyone has finally learned their lesson w Barnes coached teams. No final four talk....ever. Cautious optimism should be the maximum level of excitement every year. I don't care if we're #1 overall seed or undefeated. Final four? Yeah right.
I didn't think this team was quite final 4 good but sweet 16 would have been great. Elite 8 would have been amazing. Losing to a barely-above-500 Michigan team sucks pretty bad.

I agree-- There was some game played between the commercials. It helped them-- similar to our football team, when the other players start flopping all over the place pretending to be hurt.

I appreciate everything Barnes has done for the program, but he just will not ever take us deep. It is what it is

He’s gone as far here as every single coach at the university except Pearl.

Barnes has won a regular season SEC title and now a SECT title. Is 3rd in most wins at UT, and for a school with only one elite eight appearance he has done great. Factor in the COVID effect removing tournaments in one season and drastically altering another season and his career here has been pretty impressive.

No clue if he’ll help us make a run while here, but at least he’ll leave the program in a far better place than he inherited it.
