The Official #4 Tennessee vs Alabama (SEC Tourney Game Thread) 2PM

Wait, did he say that too? I've never seen any poster here other than a troll who self proclaims 1) former player 2) major donor and now 3) D1 umpire. Really stretches the limits of credulity.

Not in this thread, it’s in the other thread about stadium renovations that he has been getting in a back and forth with people about how TV and the BaseVols don’t deserve renovated LNS until they show more success and host a few more regionals.

Well, give it time and I'm sure we'll learn that after his illustrious D1 umpire career, he was an AD at a major SEC school.

What part of the rule did he break exactly? That's what I'm not understanding.

As I have stated, when he turns his entire body so that his right arm, the opposite arm of the side the second baseman was on, so he can make contact with the fielder as he is throwing the ball. His arm was outside the width of second base when he made contact.
This caused the rule to be applied properly as written.

It was “ticky tack”, but correct by the current rule. The base runner has the obligation to control his entire body during a slide.

That, is all I said in my original post that brought the wrath of VN. I knew it would.

Well nevermind it was his left arm...

He turns his entire body so that his right arm - the opposite arm of the side the second baseman was on - so he can make contact with the fielder as he is throwing the ball - his arm was outside the width of second base when he made contact - this cause the rule to be applied properly as written - .... you say.

So what part of the rule did he break?

Correct, I typed that wrong this time. Correctly in the post that started the shat storm of hate.
Yeah...you've got talk to text problems, plain old typing problems, and basic decency problems... too many baseballs to the head during your multi million dollar big league career

Left arm, I typed it wrong. The contact was made, purposely, outside the width of second base.

I would have signed for a bus ticket and meal money. Never got the offer.

That's not correct. Unless I'm not understanding your definition of width.

Fergie's arm did NOT extend to create intentional contact to break up the turn . . . you are completely lost in the game AND rules of baseball . . . damn, man quit while you're behind . . . based upon your comments, you wouldn't know a slide from a strike-em-out-throw-em-out . . .

Let him have his fun. He does whine but like most umpires he can't SEE his own flaws.
As if being an umpire actually means they know what they’re doing. Two years ago I watched Jeff Head behind home plate in Hoover have to go to the replay monitor because he couldn’t keep track of balls and strikes. We walked on 4 balls, whoever was batting, took off to first and he called him back and said it was 3. Every fan in the stadium knew the count. He turned and looked at the press box to the official scorer, had a huddle with the 3 others and still ended up on the phone with B’ham. It was damn near a 10 minute delay to figure it out for a total of like 6 pitches thrown during the at bat. The SEC continues to trot these pathetic excuses for officials out there, protects them on replays confirming their incompetence and concealing the egg on the leagues face and then fines a coach for calling them out for sucking.

Come on now. Please don’t piss off our major donor. We’re trying to talk him into a new stadium.

You guys and gals are not being truthful. The second baseman is fully off the bag to the right field side. It the slide stayed within the width of the base, how was any contact made?
