I think they’re tired and this break couldn’t have come at a better time.
I’d prefer they collect themselves for a deep run in the NCAAT. They can beat anybody if they have the right mindset.

I said it earlier this thread, even if we win nobody is going to look stupid for criticizing the pathetic effort we saw the first half today.

I agree with the sentiment of many here. If we play well we are a tough out for anyone, even the more complete offensive teams.

On the flip side we are probably more ripe for upset than most when we aren't hitting on all cylinders. NCAA tourney is a grind and you have to be able to run in multiple ways.....I don't feel great about our ability to do that.

But it is the tourney and anything can happen, just survive and advance. I personally think we miss on a deep run and are bounced in the second or third round.

Agreed. They seem uneasy / uncertain at times. Then they’re not. I think it’s partly from mental fatigue. It’s tough to play for Barnes.

Never said he didn't, dude. There's a difference in trying to troll with predictions made that fail and whatnot and people legitly criticizing some terrible, nay atrocious, play in the first half of a GAME thread. A game thread is the proper place to discuss such things. It's not like everyone who posted made threads talking about how we were doomed for the season or something.
Just making comments talking about what we need to be doing better, mistakes to quit making, and generally wanting us to get our head out of our a$$.

We learning as we go. Hopefully we have learned that it is super critical we get off to a faster start. Slow starts are killing us!

Yeah I for sure hope that folks think their thoughts through before hitting the post button fearing an old fart will call them out and the reading public can judge the righteousness of the situation. Kind of like reviewing box scores. Intentional fouls are rarely a positive.

Can someone who knows the game better than myself explain why in the last 2 minutes we didn’t double Edwards to get the ball out of his hands? He dribbled full distance of the court and rained contested 3’s. Sometimes it seems when someone is on fire you make someone else beat you?

The possession we lost him, actually maybe two times, down the stretch was maddening. That’s a huge no-no. The ridiculous shot he made over ZZ you live with as you forced a shot that is likely going in under 10% of the time and the kid made a good shot.

I didn’t say teams don’t lose at home. We were down 16 to a team likely to miss the NCAAT. So criticism during the first half is totally normal.

I was going to ask why you think Vandy misses the tournament as they are in as of now, and then I saw their next few games. Yikes! They definitely need a minimum of 2-4 and more like 3-3 to be comfortable. 4 of their 6 remaining games are ranked teams and the other 2 are Arkansas at home and at UGA. That last 2 games could be for the final 1-2 SEC spots. No wonder Vandy played so hard yesterday. They beat us yesterday and it pretty much cements their ticket.

The Edwards shot in the 2nd half when Gainey was covering, and Edwards turns around and throws it blind at the basket. Horrible shot selection that was somehow a bucket. Still have no clue how that went in.

That one was so lucky. It was a terrible decision.

is way more annoying than critical posters during the game imo. It shows insecurity and desperation to add to their own “resume” instead of simply discussing the game. A lot of personal vendettas

Where were you in the 1st half? Did you post in the game thread defending how UT was playing? I don't recall.

Or did you take the easy road and decide to play super fan after the game? Easy to do that after knowing the outcome.

I’ve started staying out of the thread altogether at least during games because basketball has runs and games will always be up and down. I don’t care to see comments 5 minutes into it.

But now this approach doesn’t work if you are looking to avoid the insanity.

Anyone coming into the thread looking to avoid the in game histrionics and discuss the game/team is greeted by page after page of them being resurrected by “Scooby Doo keeping receipts”.

Any team that can hold Auburn to 52 points at Auburn is a tough out. It will be all about the mental part.
