There was so much we could have done. What happened to our elite defense? I wish Barnes had chanced it and allowed ZZ time in the first half when Vandy was playing lights out. He didn't foul again, I dont think. We were in the bonus for a LONG time. Why not be more aggressive towards the rim?

That may count as a loss. But Tennessee fought on the road against a good team playing their best game of the season with their fans treating the game like a superbowl. As the graphic showed, it's hard to win on the road as a top 10 team in Memorial Stadium. Very hard atmosphere. And we played like crap on defense and only lost by one.

That graphic was not other teams just the TN losses to Vandy and there have been plenty if you have been watching for the last 20 years

I believe you have accurately described a playoff game. Which is what that game was like and the Vols came up short. I hope they will be better down the stretch.

A nice comeback, but largely dumb basketball. Whatever was going on in the UF game came back late in the 1st half of this one, and we dug a hole we couldn't climb out of. No doubt we are a great team when we're playing well, but we are bad when we go into dumb mode. That has to be fixed ASAP.

The UF game crap showed its head in the 1st half against UGA as well. It’s who we are at this point. We need to find more consistency on offense. Until that happens, we won’t be a great team.

Game came down to our defense letting them shoot 46% from FG & getting so many FTs.

and there was no foul trouble, so no reason for defense to be "careful".

Yeah, that’s my main critique. Having Z on the bench the rest of that half was an unforced error and cost us the game. What’s the point of making sure he doesn’t foul out if you’re just gonna take him out of the game yourself?

Season is far from over. But even as good as Auburn has been in Quad 1 games, they are barely squaking out wins on the road.

Seems to be go to cop out. You ever played basketball at a high level? You realize how tired your legs are at end of games and how much it impacts free throws? Throw in nerves and a guy down on his confidence. Confidence is everything once you get to a certain level in sports.

What I’m saying is, there are probably a lot of fatties on this board who can’t go hit a free throw without the pressure or being tired in the first place.

I think that’s a big learning lesson. This team isn’t the same without ZZ. May just have to risk it and let him play it out next time.
